She wrote a memorable script for Hyun Bin when she crafted the romantic comedy "Secret Garden" and she helped Lee Min Ho shine by creating the Kim Tan character for him in "The Heirs."

Now Kim Eun Sook, the acclaimed writer for those hit dramas, has set her sights on Song Joong Ki. She wants to interest the actor in her latest project titled "Descendants of the Sun." The melodrama about people who work at disaster sites will be a collaborative writing project between Kim Eun Sook and Kim Won Suk, who wrote the screenplay for "The Queen's Classroom." "Descendants of the Sun" has been described as a big-budget drama which will require many overseas shoots. And given Kim Eun Sook's previous track record in drama writing, "Descendants of the Sun" is also likely to contain plenty of witty dialogue and well-drawn characters.

The melodrama is only one of several offers that Song Joong Ki is currently considering as his comeback project. His two-year mandatory military duty ends in May and the offers have been arriving for months.

The actor was also offered a role in the Korean-Chinese film "Martial Arts," also known as "Kwon Bob." The role was previously offered to Jo In Sung, who was eager to appear in it but could ultimately not fit it into his schedule. It was later offered to Yeo Jin Goo. But Song Joong Ki's agency, Blossom Entertainment, says that his role in the sci-fi fantasy action film has not been confirmed. The actor has not yet decided on his first post-army project.

A Blossom Entertainment representative told Newsen that he actor is taking his time deciding.

"As his army discharge approaches closer, we′ve been getting flooded with many offers," said the Blossom Entertainment representative. "Just as we′ve said with the previous movie offer, we′re leaving the offers for 'Descendants of the Sun' and many others open and discussing them."

Song Joong Ki's last drama role, before heading to the army in August 2013, was playing Kang Maru in "Nice Guy," also known as "The Innocent Man." In 2012 he also appeared in the film "Grand Heist" and played Chul Soo in the film "Werewolf Boy."

The drama will be produced by Baruson Entertainment, which produced the films "The Good, The Bad and The Weird," "Mother" and "The Servant." KBS has plans to broadcast the drama in the second half of 2015.
