"Dad Where Are You Going?" Yoon Hoo vs Min Gook, Their Education Styles
"Dad Where Are You Going?" Yoon Hoo's father Yoon Min Soo's unique education style was revealed.
April 28, an episode of the MBC TV show "Dad Where Are You Going?" featured five children and their fathers traveling to Yeosu in the Jeollanam-Do Province to spend their weekend there.
Each father and their child got into a taxi to go to the location where they were scheduled to take a boat. During the taxi ride, each father's unique characteristics were revealed.
When Yoon Hoo and his father passed the Turtle-Ship Bridge, Yoon Min Soo asked, "Yoon Hoo, this bridge is called the Turtle-Ship Bridge. You saw the Turtle-Ship before, right?" Then Yoon Hoo answered, "The one Lee Soon Shin rode?" and Yoon Min Soo replied, "What is Lee Soon Shin, you have to say General Lee Soon Shin."
Yoon Hoo added, "Uncle Lee Soon Shin fought in Yeosu, huh?" and made everyone laugh. Yoon Min Soo looked at Yoon Hoo while saying, "Talk about the General Lee Soon Shin" and naturally tried to review history together.
Yoon Hoo began, "General Lee Soon Shin fought with the King of the enemy and he died after getting shot by an arrow from the enemy king's soldiers."
Yoon Min Soo asked, "What did General Lee Soon Shin say right before he died?" Yoon Hoo answered, "General Lee Soon Shin said he misses his soldiers" and began to laugh as he realized his answer sounded funny. Yoon Min Soo tells his son Yoon Hoo to ask the taxi driver for the answer. When Yoon Hoo asks him, the taxi driver says, "General Lee Soon Shin said, 'Don't alert people of my death'".
Yoon Min Soo continued, "Don't alert people of my death. Follow me Yoon Hoo" and suggested a recreation of the scene. When Yoon Hoo repeated after his father without any emotion, Yoon Min Soo says, "You gotta put them emotion into it." Yoon Hoo then reenacts the scene with a very convincing act.
As opposed to Yoon Hoo and his father, Min Gook and his father Kim Sung Joo. Like a mother, Kim Sung Joo asks his son detailed questions about the history and answers any questions Min Gook asks.
There was a distinct difference in the education methods of these two fathers. While going over the Turtle-Ship Bridge in their taxis, Kim Sung Joo said, "Where did I say this is?" while Yoon Min Soo said, "We're passing the Turtle-Ship Bridge right now".
It is very difficult to say which method of education is more effective but it is definitely safe to say Yoon Hoo is very precocious and it is the result of Yoon Min Soo's education style. Yoon Hoo's talent with words may have all been the result of having fun conversations with his dad.
