Gomez who is long been associated with acting will now executive produce the Netflix's new series "13 Reasons Why," according to Entertainment Weekly. It was rumored that Gomez is set to star in the new series. However, the pop star's representative confirmed that she is the executive producer for the project but will not play a character role in the series.

The series is created by Pulitzer Prize-winner and playwright Brian Yorkey who reportedly wrote the pilot and from Paramount TV, the project's executive producer is Mandy Teefey, Kristel Laiblin while Joy Gorman Wettels, alongside Michael Sugar and Steve Golin will produce "Anonymous Content," reported Deadline.

New York Times bestselling novel "13 Reasons Why" by Asher released in 2007, features a story of a high school girl who committed suicide. Prior to th incident, she sent recordings to her schoolmate who was also her crush. The girl revealed 13 reasons that pushed her to end her life.

Meanwhile the 23-year-old singer's recent album "Revival" topped the Billboard 200 chart earlier this month for the first time ever. Gomez will be honoured with Billboard Top Charter award at annual Women in Music Ceremony on December 11 in New York City.

''In the last few months, Selena has broken onto the scene as an adult, and come into her own as an artist with the success of 'Revival'," said Janice Min, co-president and chief creative officer of Guggenheim Media's Entertainment Group, reported Xpose. "We want to highlight this moment for a woman who has become a role model for many, a feminist, an independent voice whose new album truly showcases her as a mature artist,'' she added.
