The film "Parasite" has become the first-ever Korean movie to take home an award at the Golden Globes!

On the 6th of January local time, the 77th Golden Globes Awards ceremony was held. It took place in the beautiful city of Los Angeles California, United States. The Korean movie "Parasite" was announced as the winner of Best Foreign Language Film.

Here are some other films that were nominated for the Best Foreign Language Film category: Lulu Wang's "The Farewell" (United States), Ladj Ly's "Les Misérables" (France), Pedro Almodovar's "Pain and Glory" (Spain) and Céline Sciamma's "Portrait of a Lady on Fire" (France).

Director Bong Joon Ho when he was on stage said that you can enjoy a lot more films if you overcome the one-inch tall barricade of subtitles. He also added the he feels honored to be nominated along with international film directors. He thinks that we use only one language and that is the cinema.

The film's actors were also present in the awarding ceremony they were actors Song Kang Ho, Jo Yeo Jeong, and Lee Jung Eun. There present was also CEO Kwak Shin Ae of the production company Barunson E&A and screenwriter Han Jin Won who co-wrote the script.

"Parasite" was actually the first Korean film to be nominated for an award at the Golden Globe Awards ceremony, taking home the said award is an even greater achievement in Korean film history. For the record, this Korean film is the fourth Asian film to win a Golden Globe.

It was also nominated for the Best Director (Motion Picture) and Best Screenplay (Motion Picture) awards. Sam Mendes of "1917" took home the Best Director award and the Best Screenplay went to Quentin Tarantino's "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood."

In the 92nd Academy Awards "Parasite" is now on the waiting list of nominees for International Feature Film. And to add, the movie's original soundtrack titled "A Glass of Soju," which was sung by actor Choi Woo Shik, has made the shortlist for Music (Original Song).

"Parasite" is a 2019 black comedy and thriller film from South Korea. The movie's lead stars are Song Kang-ho, Lee Sun-kyun, Cho Yeo-jeong, Choi Woo-shik, and Park So-dam, the story follows the members of a poor household conniving to become the employees of a much wealthier family by pretending as unrelated, highly qualified people.

The film was directed by Bong Joon-ho, who on the other hand also wrote the film's story and co-wrote the screenplay with Han Jin-won. The movie "Parasite" was premiered at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival last May 2019. It became the first Korean film to take home the Palme d'Or award. It was also chosen as the South Korean entry for Best International Feature Film at the 92nd Academy Awards.

A.O Scott a writer for the New York Times characterized the film as (in his own words) "wildly entertaining, the kind of smart, generous, aesthetically-energized movie that obliterates the tired distinctions between art films and popcorn movies."
