Daniel Henney Warns Impostors Who Use His Identity To Scam People
Daniel Henney was born to Christine, a Korean American, and Phillip Henney, an Irish American, in Carson City, Michigan. His mother was born in Busan, South Korea, and after being adopted she was brought to the United States as an infant. He was a star basketball player in his High School, which is the Carson City-Crystal High School which led the Eagles to MHSAA Central region (CSAA) 2nd place during his senior year.
Henney began modeling in the U.S. in 2001 (he was only 22 years old) and, while attending college, worked in France, Italy, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Following his South Korean debut with an advertisement for Amore's Pacific Cosmetic "Odyssey Sunrise," he became a spokesman for Olympus cameras with Jun Ji-Hyun and for Daewoon Electronic's Klasse air conditioners with Kim Tae-hee. He was not just an actor in Korea but as well as American films such as X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009), Big Hero 6 (2014), and The Last Stand (2013). He was chosen to be the first actor from one of the Criminal Minds (2005) spin-off to join the main cast of the parent series.
Though not being able to speak Korean, he became famous in the South Korean Hit TV drama, My Lovely Sam Soon, which became the most popular Korean Drama in 2005. Even though he was just a supporting character in the TV drama, his looks and performance were sought out by other directors in the industry. Then followed by Spring Waltz in 2006 and his first feature film which is Seducing Mr. Perfect. Then his second film, My Father bagged awards thus making him the first foreigner to win all major cinema awards in the Nest New Actor Category.
On January 6, Henney's agency released an official statement about a social media account that has been impersonating him online. And not only does the impostors impersonate him alone but as well as uses his agency's name also. There have been some who were already scammed and they send private messages and emails to demand money and as well as valuables. Moreover, they also reiterated that Daniel Henney does not demand money from his fans, no matter the circumstance.
Henney mentioned that, it has only been a few days since the new year, yet there has been bad news already. The impostors made an account on Twitter having a similar handle, uses the same main image and profile as the actor's account thus alerted some fans.
This January 17, the Echo Global Group, Daniel Henney's agency, who spoke on behalf of Mr. Henney said that the incident was already reported and hopes that fans would be aware and be careful about the issue that has arisen and won't be a victim to this scheme. They also clarified that Daniel Henney doesn't use any other social media account apart from what is mentioned. The actors' official account on Twitter is, @danielhenney and on instagram, @danielhenneyofficial. And these are the only two accounts which is said to be official.
