On May 12, Yang Se Jong started his mandatory military service. The South Korean actor is reportedly going to enter the basic military training center to begin his mandatory duty. He will undertake a 5-week basic military training before serving the country as an active-duty soldier.

Yang Se Jong's agency opted not to divulge the exact place and time of his enlistment due to the COVID-19 pandemic to observe the "No mass gatherings" rule, as well as social distancing. There was also no planned event for the fans to be held before he starts his service.

Yang Se Jong's current age is 27 years old, turning 28, which means that he has almost reached his age limit to complete his mandatory military service.

Yang Se Jong was born on December 23, 1992, in Anyang, Gyeonggi. During his high school days, the actor worked at a book and DVD rental store as his part-time job. Then, in his sophomore year, he started to dream of becoming an actor after watching school plays with his friends.

In 2011, for just a short period, the actor became a fashion model. In the following year, he entered the Korea National University of Arts and took a major in Theater and Film.

The actor debuted in the entertainment industry in the year 2016, starring in the hit drama "Dr. Romantic." In January 2017, he portrayed the roles of young Song Seung-Heon and Lee Young-ae's assistant in SBS's historical series "Saimdang, Memoir of Colors." In this drama, Yang Se Jong took home three new Best New Actor awards at the SBS Drama Awards, Baeksang Arts Awards, and the 6th APAN Star Awards.

In 2018, he was cast in the romance comedy-drama "Still 17." He played the character of a stage designer who suffers from trauma at the age of seventeen. For his excellent performance in this particular show, the actor won the Excellence Award at the SBS Drama Awards.

Yang Se Jong experienced a rise in popularity, following his outstanding performances in his projects for the past years, and was tagged as "monster rookie" by the press. He was also included in the Forbes Korea 2030 Power Leaders List at the top four for his outstanding performance in four dramas in the first year of his acting career in the year 2017. His last project before enlisting is in the historical action drama, "My Country."
