Confirmed: Kim Yo Han, So Joo Yeon, and Yeo Hoe Hyun to Star in Korean Remake of C-Drama “A Love So Beautiful”
With over 5.5 billion views in all China's streaming websites, no wonder "A Love So Beautiful" soared to become one of the most popular high-school themed dramas in its homeland. And thusly, its popularity reached its neighboring country Korea that the latter's entertainment industry is now all set with the main cast!
The 2017 C-drama will have its Korean remake and Kim Yo Han, So Joo Yeon, and Yeo Hoe Hyun have been confirmed to be the lead stars! These three will be students of Chun Ji High School.
Kim Yo Han will play as Cha Heon, a 17-year-old student who is not only good looking but is whip-smart. He makes sure he is always on top of the class. Though he appears to be somewhat cold, it's because he doesn't know how to express himself well. But behind his seemingly aloof attitude, he has a warm heart.
His soon-to-be leading lady, So Joo Yeon, will play as Shin Sol Yi. She is a bright and free-spirited 17-year-old who has a big crush on Cha Heon. Because of her carefree attitude, she is not shy to confess her feelings to Cha Heon and openly reveals to the whole campus how she adores him.
In the Chinese version, the two are neighbors, adding so much awkwardness but more romantic excitement between the characters.
The Korean twist will have Yeo Hoe Hyun to play as Woo Dae Sung, a talented transferee and part of the swimming team. He quietly falls in love with Shin Sol Yi and keeps his feelings for himself. He just remains as the boy who will always be "the friend" and never "the boyfriend." His love for Shin Sol Yi is unrequited but he stays by her side no matter what.
This kind of set-up will be highly relatable to teenagers, given that this phase is common among their age. As the three teenagers start to venture in a new adventure, they will discover more about love, friendship, trust, and even heartbreaks.
Kim Yo Han, or popularly known as Yohan, debuted as a member of the South Korean boy group X1 when he finished first on Produce X 101 in 2019. School 2020 was supposed to be his debut series but was canceled due to casting controversy with the female lead, making "A Love So Beautiful" to be his first small screen project.
Meanwhile, So Joo Yeon is a model under LSAC Model and debuted as an actress in the film "The Whispering" and the television series "Not Alright, But It's Alright." She also landed major roles in "My Healing Love" and "I Hate Going To Work." She also played the role of Yoon Ah-Reum in "Dr. Romantic 2," opposite to Kim Min Jae's character.
Lastly, Yeo Hoe Hyun has been appearing in several dramas in small roles, such as "Pinocchio," "Reply 1988," "The Doctors," "While You Were Sleeping," and many others. And he even won the Best Actor in a One-Act/Special/Short Drama in 31st KBS Drama Awards for his roles in "Girls' Generation 1979" and "Waltzing Alone."
The remake will be using a new video platform by KakaoM and Kakao to be released this year with twenty-four episodes lasting about twenty minutes long each. The drama will be optimized for mobile viewing.
