"Space Sweepers" Starring Song Joong Ki, Kim Tae Ri, and More Confirms September Premiere + New Teaser!
Sci-fi film "Space Sweepers" starring actors Song Joong Ki, Kim Tae Ri, Jin Seon Kyu, and Yoo Hae Jin revel over September premiere and dropped a new exciting teaser!
The sci-fi film tells the story of a crew inside a garbage collector spaceship called "The Victory." The leader of the crew and the one that runs the ship is Captain Jang Sun Jang (Kim Tae Ri, known from her previous work "Little Forest"). She runs the ship together with her crew, comprised of mostly misfits, named Pilot Tae Ho (Song Joong Ki, from "Descendants of The Sun"), Engineer Tiger Park (Jin Seon Kyu from, from "Man of Men") and lastly, the robot Eobdong, who will be voiced by Yoo Hae Jin (from "The Battle: Roar To Victory").
They roam around the galaxy to find scraps that they could exchange for money, while also competing in several spacecraft battles from different countries.
A teaser for the upcoming sci-fi film was recently shared - a one-minute clip filled with spaceships and action. The teaser begins with "The Victory," zooming through the galaxy. Captain Jang Sun Jang's leader-like and assertive personality shows off when she speaks in the background telling their rivals that the scrap that they found belongs to her while her rival asks her angrily if she's taking everything. Pilot Tae Ho smirks, knowing that "The Victory" is the fastest and strongest of all spacecraft sweepers in the galaxy.
Despite their spacecraft sweeper being the most unbeatable, they are still in need of a whole lot of money to pay off their crippling debts. Everything goes haywire when their spacecraft collides with another country's spacecraft, which leaves them lesser money than they had before. Everything could have gone successfully if they worked together and relied on each other's role in their team, but unfortunately, they don't excel in camaraderie.
The crew goes into a fight because of their situation, while Tiger Park says, "We're screwed."
Just before they give up, the crew, Tae Ho, Tiger Park, and Eobdong find a human-like robot while looking for scraps in a deserted cargo ship. Later on, they realize that the robot that they found is called "Dorothy," which can be used for mass destruction and is actually quite powerful. After they realized what they found, the crew discuss that the robot could be worth a lot of money and would be the one to solve their problems.
When the other spacecrafts learn that "The Victory" holds the human-like robot "Dorothy," they plot to steal the robot from their hands through a space war.
The teaser ends with a lot of gunfire, fights, and Tiger Park and Eobdong arguing with each other.
"Space Sweepers" is helmed by director and screenwriter Jo Sung. He is known for his works in "A Werewolf Boy" (2012) and "A Phantom Detective" (2016). The movie will soon be available on September 23!
