Following the announcement of nominees, the hosts for the 57th Baeksang Awards have finally been revealed!

A new report confirmed that Bae Suzy and Shin Dong Yup would be the official emcees for Baeksang Awards 2021

The upcoming event, also known as the Paeksang Arts Awards, will surely be an exciting and entertaining reunion to some of the brightest South Korean stars since the duo have previously hosted the prestigious ceremony. 

To recall, the singer-actress has been hosting the event for six years in a row, while the 50-year-old comedian has been leading the ceremony for three consecutive years, starting from the 50th to 52nd Baeksang Awards. 

In 2020, both Bae Suzy and Shin Dong Yup were joined by "Seobok" star Park Bo Gum as the co-host for the ceremony. 

Baeksang Awards 2021 Details

The upcoming award-giving body is considered as South Korea's version of the Academy Awards, also known as the Oscars, where they recognize the excellence of artists, directors, and writers for the film, television, and theater industry. 

Scheduled on May 13, the forthcoming celebration will take place at Ilsan, Gyeonggi-do, and is set to broadcast live on JTBC. 

Just like the previous ceremony, 57th Baeksang Awards will be held in a socially distance setting and without spectators due to the COVID-19 protocols.

57th Baeksang Awards Nominees

Earlier this week, the list of nominees for the prestigious award-giving body was released. 

For the Best Drama category, tvN is leading the nomination with three of its shows, namely, "It's Okay to Not Be Okay," "Flower of Evil," and "My Unfamiliar Family." also included on the list is JTBC's "Beyond Evil" and Netflix's "Extracurricular."

As for the Best Actress, included on the list are Kim So Yeon for "The Penthouse," Kim So Hyun for "River Where the Moon Rises," Seo Ye Ji for her portrayal in "It's Okay to Not Be Okay," Shin Hye Sun in "Mr. Queen" and Uhm Ji Won for tvN's "Birthcare Center."

On the other hand, the Best Actor nominees are Kim Soo Hyun for "It's Okay to Not Be Okay," Song Joong Ki in tvN's "Vincenzo," Shin Ha Kyun for "Beyond Evil," Lee Joon Gi for "Flower of Evil" and lastly, Uhm Ki Joon for his portrayal as Joo Dan Tae in the top-rating drama "The Penthouse."

"It's Okay to Not Be Okay" Scores Several Nods Amid Seo Ye Jin's Controversy

As mentioned above, tvN's romance comedy series received major nominations despite the issue surrounding the lead female star, Seo Ye Jin. 

"It's Okay to Not Be Okay" managed to score the Best Drama, Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Supporting Actor for Oh Jung Se's impressive performance as Moon Sang-Tae, who has autism. 

Amid the controversy involving her then-boyfriend, Kim Jung Hyun, a South Korean outlet cited that the actress was accused of bullying her staff members by verbally abusing and harassing them.
