KBS 2TV drama "Youth of May" is literally around the corner. A few weeks from now and it will already be released.

For now, the network has released some new stills of the show, featuring an actor that is usually seen in different dramas.

"Youth of May" Drops New Stills Showcasing Actor Kim Won Hae

For starters, "Youth of May" is a new romance drama revolving around the young and bittersweet romance of Hwang Hee Ta, a character played by Lee Do Hyun, and Kim Myung Hee, as played by Go Min Si. The two's romance is quite a sad one because it happened in a turbulent period.

In particular, the two would meet and fall in love amidst the whirlwind of events that happened in May 1980. In real life, this period coincided with one of the most painful periods in South Korea sometimes called the era of the Gwangju Uprising.

The new stills, however, deviated a bit from the romance and focused instead on the challenging home life of Go Min Si's character.

Go Min Si plays Kim Myung Hee, a nurse just three years into her career but has already experienced so much, professionally and personally.

Life was for her when she left her hometown. While working, she still has to constantly worry about her younger brother Kim Myung Soo, played by Jo Yi Hyun, who is left at home with the father Kim Myung Hee does not have a great relationship with.

The father Kim Hyun Chul is played by Kim Won-Hae. Reportedly, the father had to make an unagreeable decision when their family was completely shaken up by a crisis, which made his daughter hate him.

Kim Won Hae in a Surprising Role

As Kim Myung Hee stands up more on her own feet, the two will become even more estranged from each other.

In the new stills released, it can be seen how the father and daughter had a cold relationship towards each other. Kim Myung He is sharing a meal with her younger brother and father. The two have blank looks on their faces and even though they're facing each other, fans can surmise they are not on good terms.

This is one aspect of the show that fans must anticipate, apart from the romance between Kim Myung He and Hwang Hee Ta.

One can say this is a surprising role for Kim Won Hae. He is most notable for being part of "Saturday Night Live Korea" Season 1 to 4. Despite making people laugh in SNL, his skills are quite diverse, since he already starred in over 20 movies and over 20 series.

It is safe to say fans often remember him for his usually funny roles. Twitter users often reminisce about him in these characters.

One could say that playing a cold and distant father is still something new for Kim Won Hae. He has tested positive for COVID-19 last year but has since recovered.
