When Seolhyun and Zico's relationship was announced, the two had been dating for five consecutive months already. According to Dispatch, when Seolhyun was struggling with her own problems due to false rumors, Zico was there for her to be her crying shoulder and source of strength.
FNC Entertainment and Seven Seasons, Seolhyun and Zico's agencies at the time, confirmed the dating news. FNC shared that the two became interested in each other and had become each other's emotional support and source of happiness.

During the course of their relationship, Seolhyun and Zico were often seen in Zico's car, avoiding the public.
However, their idol romance didn't last long. After a month of the dating announcement, another news has been reported that the two had separated.
Their agencies, FNC and Seven Seasons stated that the couple decided to split due to personal reasons and the public's constant vicious comments, which put pressure on the relationship.

Fans have speculated that the "Orange Marmalade" actress has been Zico's muse when writing songs. Two of Zico's more mellow and sweet-sounding songs are, allegedly, about the actress.
"I am You, You are Me" is one of Zico's songs which was reportedly written about Seolhyun. The fans and viewers were surprised upon the release of the track, which talked about a man so deeply in love with his girl.

Seolhyun and Zico's relationship was short-lived but it was so sweet that the fans felt sad about their separation. Despite their separation, their fans expressed their support to the two.

In the year 2017, the "Awaken" actress and Zico had separated but after a year, numerous news outlets posted online that the two rekindled their relationship.
Fans and viewers have expressed their delight towards the news, but soon was crushed after Zico denied the getting-back-together news.
