South Korean singer and actor Kim Jung-hoon, best known for his role in the hit drama "Goong," is stepping back into the spotlight with a bold new look and plans for a solo concert in Japan, marking his first major public appearance since controversies stalled his career.

On social media this week, the former UN member shared a candid photo of himself relaxing on a Tokyo street, sporting golden blonde hair and a casual outfit — a sharp contrast from his polished image of earlier years.

The image, captioned playfully, featured a pixelated figure mimicking his pose, sparking praise and surprise from fans.
"He's definitely bolder now," one fan wrote in the comments. "No wonder he's been off the radar — he's in Japan!"
Kim, 45, followed the post with an official announcement of his upcoming Tokyo concert, scheduled for August 2.
Sharing a second photo of himself with heart doodles on his cheeks, Kim wrote, "Let's make unforgettable summer memories. I look forward to seeing you."
Once celebrated for both his visuals and academic credentials — he studied dentistry at Seoul National University — Kim saw his career derailed by personal scandals.
In 2019, an ex-girlfriend accused him of coercion and financial misconduct, allegations that dominated headlines across South Korea.
More recently, in 2023, he faced backlash over a DUI incident in which he allegedly refused a breathalyzer test.
Speaking to fans on social media, Kim acknowledged his troubled past but did not directly address the scandals.
In a previous interview earlier this year, he stated, "I'm reflecting on myself but please trust me."
Known for his debut with K-pop duo UN in the early 2000s and his acting roles in series such as "I Need Romance," Kim now appears to be rebuilding his career slowly through music and direct fan engagement in Japan.
As fans prepare for his Tokyo performance, Kim's recent social media activity suggests a more relaxed, approachable image, one that supporters say feels sincere.
"He's starting fresh," one longtime fan commented. "We're ready to support him."
Representatives for Kim Jung-hoon have not responded to requests for further comment.
