Actresses can go on quietly playing supporting roles for a while until suddenly viewers seem to notice them and they begin to get plenty of offers.
That's what happened to actresses Han Groo and Jung Soo Young, who are both having a busy and promising year. Both actresses will appear in two different dramas in the next few months.
Actress Jung Soo Young, who played Hwang Jung Eum's curly-haired cellmate in "Secrets," will have roles in both the tvN drama "Let's Eat" and the JTBC drama "Can We Love?"
In "Let's Eat" she is once more playing the girlfriend of the leading actress, only this time she's is the girlfriend of actress Lee Soo Kyung. She plays Park Kyung Mi, a housewife who lives with her in-laws. "Let's Eat," which starts this month, is about a single woman's romance and a murder that occurs in her neighborhood.
In "Can We Love?" she plays a working mom named Moon Eun Joo. "Can We Love?" is a drama about three 30-something women. The women have lived through some negative experiences and have decided to focus on having fun. That probably includes falling in love.
It has already been a busy acting year for Jung Soo Young. Besides appearing in "Secrets," she acted in three dramas, "Yeon Woo's Summer," "Adolescent Medley" and "Cruel City."
Meanwhile Han Groo also has two drama roles coming up.
She recently starred as Kim Jae Won's younger sister in MBC's "Scandal: A Shocking and Wrongful Incident. Now she has lined up parts in both the SBS drama "One Warm Word" and the KBS drama special "Daddy's A Pervert."
In "One Warm Word," she plays Han Hye Jin's younger sister Na Eun Young. "One Warm Word" is the story of a woman who learns that her husband is having an affair and decides to confront the guilty parties. The drama will air following the end of "The Suspicious Housekeeper."
In Han Groo's KBS special, "Daddy's A Pervert," the singer and actress plays Ji Yeon, an art student. That drama special premieres next week. "Daddy's A Pervert" is the story of how one family recovers from the misunderstandings caused by the father's unemployment.
Besides "Scandal: A Shocking and Wrongful Incident" Han Groo appeared on "We Got Married" and in the dramas "Just Like Today" and "Girl K."
