tvN is gearing up for the release of the much-awaited "Tale of the Nine-Tailed 2" with Kim Bum, Lee Dong Wook, and new female lead Kim So Yeon. 

According to media outlets, the cast members with new stars joining the drama reunited for its first script reading. 

'Tale of the Nine-Tailed 2' Script Reading Highlights

Lee Dong Wook, Kim Bum, and the "Tale of the Nine-Tailed" season 2 female lead Kim So Yeon had its first table read on April 18. 

The "Goblin" star will reprise his role as the nine-tailed fox Lee Yeon; the same goes for Kim Bum, who will continue to play the character Lee Rang, Lee Yeon's half-brother.

As for the Baeksang Arts winning Kim So Yeon, she takes the role of Ryu Hong Joo, one of the four major mountain gods who ruled the Korean Peninsula, posing as the owner of the Gyeongseong restaurant Myoyeongak. 

The actress will surely stun the viewers with her "unparalleled beauty" alongside fellow mountain god Lee Yeon. 

Unfortunately, Jo Bo Ah, who played the talented TV producer Nam Ji Ah, will not reprise her role in the upcoming sequel. Instead, she has replaced Kim So Yeon as the "Tale of the Nine-Tailed" season 2 female lead. 

'Tale of the Nine-Tailed' Season 2: What to Expect in the Upcoming Sequel?

After concluding the first script reading for "Tale of the Nine-Tailed" season 2, reports noted that the forthcoming sequel is scheduled to air in the first half of 2023. 

In the second season, Lee Dong Wook's character will illustrate how he transforms as a gumiho into a mountain god. Moreover, the sequel will also deep dive into Lee Rang's story.

As for the whole synopsis of the upcoming season, "Tale of the Nine-Tailed 2," the story is set in the Japanese colonial period, while the rumored season 3 will possibly cover the Joseon Dynasty period. 

However, while the first season aired with a tidal of 16 episodes, season 2 will only have 12 episodes. 

Aside from the changes in the female lead, season 2 will retain Kang Shin Hyo and Jo Nam Hyung as the directors, as well as Han Woo Ri as the screenwriter.

The tvN historical fantasy series is Kim So Yeon's comeback to the small screen after playing the diva opera singer Cheon Seo Jin in "The Penthouse: War in Life."

The makjang series gained a huge hype making it extended till season 3. 

In the revenge K-drama, viewers saw how the A-lister delivered a stellar performance playing the female villain and a doting mother to her only daughter Ha Eun Byul (Choi Ye Bin).

Kim So Yeon's "The Penthouse" performance earned her two Best Actress trophies at the 2020 SBS Drama Awards and the 57th BaekSang Arts Awards, while the Daesang or grand prize award at the 2021 SBS Drama Awards.
