"Squid Game" star surprised fans after gracing Arena Korea's latest cover. The award-winning actor wowed the public with his radical transformation as the veteran actor dons streetwear outlets. 

Oh Young Soo Flaunts Hip Charm in Arena Korea's November Issue

Age is just a number for Oh Young Soo as the 78-year-old actor makes heads turn with his new look for the magazine's latest cover. 

The actor perfectly embodies street style with his hip and young-at-heart vibe wearing collaboration for luxury fashion house Balenciaga and sportswear Adidas. 

Over Arena Korea's Instagram, the award-winning actor wore a head-to-toe Balenciaga X Adidas collaboration for their new collection, featuring puffy jackets and a tracksuit similar to the iconic uniform in "Squid Game."

From Portraying Monks to Golden Globes Winner

Best known for playing monks due to his distinct looks, Oh Young Soo landed a different kind of character when he joined Netflix's "Squid Game."

He took the role of player 001 as the oldest participant in the death-defying games. Viewers witnessed his amazing portrayal after the drama revealed a surprise ending. 

Due to his top-notch acting, Oh Young Soo made history as the first Korean actor to be awarded with major recognition at the Golden Globes 2021

He took home Supporting Actor in a Series, Miniseries, or Motion Picture for TV and beat fellow contenders namely Mark Duplass and Billy Crudup for "The Morning Show," Kieran Culkin for "Succession," and Brett Goldstein for "Ted Lasso."

Although he did not personally accept the award, he expressed deep gratitude to fans and viewers. 

Through Netflix, the award-winning actor revealed his reaction upon hearing the news. 

"After hearing the news of the award, I told myself, 'I'm a decent guy,' for the first time in my life," he said as obtained by an outlet.

Moreover, he delivered a special message to his family and said "While embracing the scent of our culture and while embracing the love for my family deep in my heart, I give thanks to everyone in the world."

Apart from the historic Golden Globes win, Oh Young Soo also bagged Baeksang Arts Award for Best Actor in Theatre in 1994 for his performance in "Pigojigo Pigojigo" and was given with Order of Cultural Merit in 2019. 

Oh Young Soo Turned Down Commercial Offers?

At the height of the "Squid Game" craze, the cast members are gracing various advertisements, magazines, and more. 

However, Oh Young Soo revealed that he turned down various endorsement deals including a known fried chicken commercial.

During his appearance in f MBC's "How Do You Play?" the veteran actor revealed that he has been receiving tons of calls regarding offers but politely turned it down.
