Lee Young Ae has reached out to a victim of the Itaewon tragedy by offering assistance to the distressed family.

According to an outlet, the Hallyu queen has provided aid to the family of the 25-year-old Russian tourist named Park Juliana, who died in the incident.

It came after the victim's father opened up to the media about his ordeal of transporting his daughter's dead body from South Korea to Russia.

Unfortunately, the transport costs around $5,000, and was a bit much for the family.

The father, who works at a nursing home, lamented about having difficulties as they could not afford to transport the body to their hometown in Russia.

After airing the story of Mr. Park, Lee Young Ae reached out through the Korea Welfare Foundation for the Disabled, where she served as the chair of the Culture and Arts advisory committee and expressed her support to the bereaved family.

In the same report, the actress said that she wanted to help Juliana and her family, who are unable to return to their home country due to her financial difficulties.

Apart from Lee Young Ae, the Russian embassy also extended their help by helping with the transportation cost for those who cannot afford it. With this, they have decided to issue the necessary documents needed to transport the body as soon as possible.

On the other hand, foreign affairs ministries of different countries are also considering shouldering the funeral costs of foreign victims.

It can be recalled that out of the 156 young victims, there are 26 foreigners from 14 countries, which includes Iran, Uzbekistan, China, and Norway, who died in the Itaewon tragedy.

Due to the severity of the incident, South Korea's President Yoon Suk Yeol declared a period of national mourning.

"The government will designate the period from today until the accident is brought under control as a period of national mourning," he said, as obtained by a media outlet, as he described the devastating situation as "truly tragic."

Lee Young Ae Shows Support Amid the Ukraine War

Lee Young Ae's action towards the Itaewon tragedy is not the first time where the top star offered her help.

It can be recalled that amid the war in Ukraine, Lee Young Ae made a generous donation to support the country.

As obtained by a media outlet, Ukraine ambassador Dmytro Ponomarenko revealed to Twitter that the "Jewel in the Palace" star sent a letter along with a cheque of one hundred million won or approximately $83,331.

Meanwhile, Lee Young Ae's letter includes a heartfelt message to the citizens expressing her support and encouragement not to lose hope despite the situation.
