Goo Hye Sun shares her unforgettable and heartbreaking experience as a rookie actress.

The 38-year-old actress gained attention in showbiz after landing the lead role in the 2009 K-drama "Boys Over Flowers."

Playing the role of Geum Jan Di, she stars alongside Lee Min Ho, Kim Bum, Kim Joon, and Kim Hyun Joong as they portray the main characters of the Korean remake of "Meteor Garden."

Since then, all eyes are on Goo Hye Sun and her hit K-dramas like "Angel Eyes" and Blood."

However, despite making a name for herself in showbiz, she gets honest and spoke about her struggles during her early years as an actress.

Goo Hye Sun Reveals Doing Extreme Sports to Overcome Negative Emotions and Thoughts

As obtained by a media outlet, the actress and director delivered a speech at her alma mater, Sungkyunkwan University, where she recalled her journey in the industry.

Goo Hye Sun confessed that she experienced being criticized for her acting skills and was made fun of because of it. She said that at the time of her debut, she admitted that she "wasn't ready" yet, adding that her acting skills weren't that good.

"As you may know, many of my scenes from my dramas in the past have turned into memes online," she said, adding, "I was everyone's target to make fun of. So many people made fun of me."

Besides being laughed at, Goo Hye Sun mentioned receiving hate and being "constantly bashed."

Because of this experience, she revealed doubting herself to the point that she thought of taking her own life.

"There were times when I felt like I didn't want to live anymore," she furthered.

Thankfully, she was able to cope and get away from negative emotions and feelings by doing various activities.

Besides focusing on her on-screen projects, she took part in doing extreme sports which includes going bungee jumping and scuba diving.

"Participating in extreme sports really helped me get rid of those feelings and thoughts," the actress said.

Goo Hye Sun's Journey as Actress to Director

After her last K-drama in 2015 for the series "Blood" Goo Hye Sun made an on-screen comeback after two years for the musical drama "You're Too Much" along with Kang Tae Oh, Uhm Jung Hwa, and more.

While this is her last K-drama appearance, she continues to be active behind the scenes and became a screenwriter and director.

One of her recent is the short film "Dark Yellow," a fantasy drama film written and directed by the 38-year-old beauty. It stars Im Ju Kyu and "Sweet Revenge Season 2" actress Ahn Seo Hyun.

Apart from it, Goo Hye Sun is also set to direct a documentary, titled "Studio Ku Hye Sun," that focuses on her new-age music.
