'Doctor Cha' Receives Criticisms For Blatant Misinformation

JTBC's "Doctor Cha," headlined by Uhm Jung Hwa, is receiving mixed reactions ahead of the release of its second half of broadcast!

On May 6, the medical drama premiered its seventh episode which focused on a Crohn's disease patient. It's a chronic inflammation that occurs in the digestive system including the mouth to the anus.

In the episode, the patient's family members complained about the disease being hereditary, which caused the patient to attempt to take his own life.

The broadcast received a nationwide rating of 13%, a significantly high score that beats other weekend dramas.

However, the series also received flak from patients who suffer from Crohn's disease. The families of the patients poured their anger on their posts, demanding an apology from the production unit of "Doctor Cha."

One viewer posted, "Crohn's disease is not hereditary. This is clearly misinformation. The production team should issue a proper apology immediately."

The group also shared that many patients who suffer from the disease are now scared to go to school after watching the episode.

If the drama producers don't apologize, they will write a petition to cancel the drama's broadcast. As of now, JTBC hasn't released any statement to address the issue.

Episode 8 was subsequently released on May 7, which received the drama's highest rating yet.

'Doctor Cha' Sets Historical Record For JTBC

The latest episode of "Doctor Cha" earned an incredibly high score of 16.2% as it closed its first half of run.

But besides that, it also made history in JTBC by achieving the fifth highest rating of any series in the broadcast network following "The World of the Married," "Reborn Rich," "SKY Castle" and "Itaewon Class."
