The newly premiered dystopian series "Black Knight" starring Kim Woo Bin, Esom and Kang Yoo Seok is under fire for plagiarism controversy.

'Black Knight' Refutes Plagiarism Claims Against New Drama

On May 16, the production crew of "Black Knight" expressed their position regarding the plagiarism issue against the newly premiered dystopian series.

After the drama was released, the gaming community, both domestic and international, raised suspicions of plagiarism as the setting of "Black Knight" has similarities to the video game "Death Stranding."

Japanese netizens continued to criticize the drama for plagiarism issues. The production unit of "Black Knight" then addressed the issue, saying that the work was based on the webtoon of the same name.

It was created by Lee Yoon Gyun and was serialized in 2016, which makes it impossible to copy "Death Stranding" as it was released in 2019.

The international gaming community continues to criticize the work even though the plagiarism claims are far-fetched.

In particular, Lee Yoon Gyun shared that the idea of a delivery man in a post-apocalyptic setting first appeared in the 1980 novel "Postman" by David Breen, which was one of his inspirations in curating the work.

Meanwhile, "Black Knight" is directed by Choi Eui Seok, and it focuses on the stories of "knights" who sacrifice themselves in order to protect humankind amidst a deadly air pollution and corrupt government in a dystopian South Korea.

'Black Knight' Enjoys Great Reception Worldwide

Kim Woo Bin's dystopian series "Black Knight" enjoys immense success as soon as it premiered on Netflix on May 12!

As of May 16, the drama ranks at No. 2 in Netflix's Top 10 non-English TV shows in various countries including Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Bangladesh and more.

"Black Knight" is expected to dominate more countries as it becomes available for streaming in other selected countries.

In particular, Kim Woo Bin's series receives massive buzz for its sound portrayal of survival and evident class divisions in the series.

From the rich to the poor, the series perfectly showcases the differences between two society classes which can also be seen in real life.

The corruption also gives a semblance of resonance to viewers as it delivers its story through the eyes of Song Seung Heon's character, the main antagonist of the drama.
