The controversy gained traction after a translated post shared by Pannchoa from the Korean community site Instiz alleged that IU follows a repeated pattern whenever controversies emerge.

The original post stated, "Controversy - shadow boxing - lawsuit - donation. The process of silencing has been entrenched for far too long."

The writer added, "If I point this out, people will say, 'At least she made a donation, you should do the same,' but why should I? Are you trying to get your hands on the money in my wallet?"

The user further claimed, "I don't think this approach will work anymore, will it? She's been exposed too much this time."

However, the criticism quickly drew pushback from other Korean netizens who defended IU's long-standing donation history. According to comments, many users argued that her charitable giving predates the current controversy.

One commenter questioned the accusations by writing, "She has always made donations. Wasn't this just a time when it happened to be controversial? I don't think she made the donation because of the controversy though."

Another user pointed to the consistency of IU's charitable activities, stating, "She has always donated periodically during her debut anniversary, birthday or on Children's Day. What 'process' are you talking about?"

Some commenters reacted more strongly against the criticism itself as one netizen wrote, "You guys sure are confident in exposing your hate comments." Another added, "What's wrong with you... she's been donating every year. Is everyone out of their minds?"

The online discussion also included users highlighting specific donations made by the singer and one commenter said, "Oh, but I didn't know she donated to the military. IU is cool." A commenter wrote, "Donating is something to be praised. Why are people bringing this up?"

One of the most widely shared responses stated, "If this is how they twist consistent donations to the socially vulnerable into some kind of conspiracy theory, then really... It just makes me realize once again that IU's haters are beyond help."

The debate continues to spread across Korean online communities as fans and critics remain divided over the interpretation of the singer's public actions and charitable contributions.
