Lee Sung Kyung Reveals Nickname Given by ‘Dr Romantic 3’ Co-Stars
Lee Sung Kyung shares what the "Dr. Romantic 3" cast used to call her, the reason behind her name, and more.
During her appearance for Allure Korea's YouTube channel, the actress spoke about the story behind the moniker while inside her dressing room for the shoot.
Lee Sung Kyung, who accidentally revealed the filming site, said that they were doing a photoshoot near Jamsu Bridge, overlooking the famous Han River.
Lee Sung Kyung Shares Interesting Nickname on 'Dr. Romantic 3'
One of the few details that Lee Sung Kyung shared with the Allure Korea team is her nickname given by her "Dr. Romantic 3" co-stars. The actress said that her fellow actors named her "bean" because of her character.
"Lately, maybe because I often wear surgical scrubs, I've been hearing a lot of comments that I look like a bean," she said, adding, "It doesn't seem like a nice nickname."
In the SBS weekend series, Lee Sung Kyung reprised her role as Dr. Cha Eun Jae, a cardiothoracic surgeon who works under Kim Sa Bu, played by Han Suk Kyu.
The third installment featured character growth of Cha Eun Jae, especially as a surgeon.

In season 2, her character was introduced as someone who struggled at the operating room due to her panic attack, and Kim Sa Bu help her deal with her issues.
Interestingly, "Dr. Romantic 3" showed a lot changes in Cha Eun Jae and is now helping the rookie doctor, military doctor Lee Seon Wung, played by Lee Hong Nae, to overcome his fear.
Story Behind Lee Sung Kyung's Name
Besides her amazing visuals, another striking detail about Lee Sung Kyung is her name.
During her casual interview with Allure Korea, the team asked her about her name and why her parents named her Sung Kyung.
According to the actress, it means "holy" and "scripture" in Chinese, and since her parents are both Christians, they chose to name her related to their religion.
"My parents, who have been devout Christians since I was in their womb, wanted to name their child Sung Kyung, whether it was a son or daughter. So, it literally means 'holy scripture' (or 'the Bible')," she shared.
Even Lee Sung Kyung's Instagram handle, heybiblee, is a combination of her name, "Lee," and "bible."
What's Next for Lee Sung Kyung?
As of this writing, her latest project is "Dr. Romantic 3," but she has had back-to-back series since she made her comeback in 2022.
Three years after headlining "Dr. Romantic 2," Lee Sung Kyung played one of the lead stars in "Shooting Stars" and teamed up with Kim Dae Young.
It was then followed by the romance drama "Call it Love" with Kim Young Kwang.
