While everyone is waiting for the premiere of "Squid Game" Season 2, former IZ*ONE Jo Yu Ri is among the cast members gaining public's attention.

After three years, the Netflix series will return with a bigger and bolder season featuring a mix of returning and new cast members. Following the streaming giant's announcement regarding the release of the second season, viewers are looking forward to the new lineup.

Meet the 'Squid Game' Season 2 Cast

In June 2023, Netflix dropped the official cast members joining "Squid Game" Season 2. As expected, Lee Jung Jae and Lee Byung Hun will reprise their roles as Seong Gi Hoon and the Frontman.

Meanwhile, Netflix also added Wi Ha Joon and Gong Yoo to its returning cast.

Interestingly, new players include Im Siwan, Kang Ha Neul, Park Sung Hoon, and Yang Dong Geun.

Weeks later, despite the casting backlash, "Squid Game" Season 2 announced more names who will join the series.

From rising stars to veteran actors, eight new cast members include Park Gyu Young, Lee Jin Wook, Choi Seung Hyun (also known as BIGBANG's T.O.P.), Kang Ae Sim, Lee David, Roh Jae Won, Won Ji An, and of course, Jo Yu Ri.

While casting controversy surrounds BIGBANG's T.O.P. being on board, viewers were delighted to see the former IZ*ONE member on the lineup.

Jo Yu Ri's 'Squid Game' Season 2 Casting Sparks High Expectations

As cited by a media outlet, viewers are looking forward to seeing Jo Yu Ri's character in "Squid Game" season 2.

With this, fans expressed "high expectations" from her, knowing how multi-talented the idol-actress is.

Apart from enthusiastic reactions from the public, some say that they have "zero doubts" about the singer-actress' performance and on-screen abilities.

Moreover, a netizen also mentioned that her youthful appearance "makes it hard to predict the type of character" that she will portray.

Jo Yu Ri's Drama Besides 'Squid Game' Season 2

Although she made her debut as part of a girl group, Jo Yu Ri is slowly venturing into acting. Among her first works as an actress is the 2022 youth drama "Mimic," where she took on the role of the girl group ICE maknae, Oh Ro Si.

In addition, she also appeared in "Work Later, Drink Now Season 2" as juvenile delinquent Si Eun.

Despite appearing in only two episodes, Jo Yu Ri's cameo made a mark on some of the viewers.
