Hyeri to Portray Role of Pole Dancer in New Movie With Woo Do Hwan

Based on a news cited on January 2, it was reported that Girls' Day Hyeri has been cast to lead a new Noir film, "Tropical Night" (working title). The creative mind behind the box office hit movies "12:12 The Day" and "Princess Deokhye" is expected to helm the project.

Hyeri is said to portray Ari's role, a former K-Pop girl group leader, who shifts jobs and works now as a pole dancer at a street club in Bangkok.

Woo Do Hwan will star opposite the actress. He takes on the character of a part-timer who helps Ari execute her performances at club events. He falls for her at first sight.

K-Netz Disapprove Hyeri's Casting in Noir Film 'Tropical Night'

However, despite the approaching project for Hyeri and her return to the silver screen, K-Netz was not satisfied with her new film. They expressed their disapproval of her casting, and they have doubts about the actress's character. Some also don't like the set-up of the movie.

  • "The character synopsis for a noir film is screwed up already."
  • "If they go with that, the character set-up is too bad though."
  • "Hyeri's role is not good for her."
  • "The character is so bad. Is he a famous director?"
  • "I hope Hyeri moves to a company that can help her pick better scripts."

In addition, the production of "Tropical Night" will start filming in Thailand at the end of January. Veteran Jang Dong Gun is also expected to join the star-studded cast.

Hyeri Prepares for Another Movie 'Victory'

Hyeri is returning to the acting field following her hiatus. Now that she's preparing to meet again her fans and viewers with new works, many are already looking forward to her return.

As of this writing, Hyeri has been cast for two movies and no confirmed dramas yet. Apart from "Tropical Night," the "Reply 1988" star is about to exhibit again her talent in dancing as she headlines the film "Victory."

It is a coming-of-age movie set in 1999 in a small village in Geoje. High School student Pil Sun has a passion for dancing, she's best friends with Mi Na. They decide to join their campus cheerleading club.

For this movie, Hyeri is said to play Pil Sun's character. The production is expected to begin in March with the goal of releasing it in 2024.
