Yoo Ah In's Accomplice to Possibly Face 3-Year Imprisonment

This is for violating the Narcotic Drug Control Act by administering the illegal substance propofol multiple times to Yoo Ah In in a hospital in Gangnam-gu in 2023.

To be exact, "Doctor A" has administered the substance to the award-winning star a total of 17 times but neglected to submit a record at the integrated narcotics management system, thereby neglecting to report it to the relevant authorities.

Moreover, the prosecution pointed out that the activity was without consent or reporting to the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety.

Other than the 3-year imprisonment, the prosecution also requested a 270,000 KRW or 202 USD fine for the violation of the narcotics act.

Amid the prosecution's request, Doctor A's legal team has admitted to all charges appearing in the indictment but expressed their concern over their client's health.

Doctor A's council is looking into the challenges to the defendant's health that might be compromised because of restrictions due to the pandemic.

Due to this, the legal team is seeking leniency and lighter sentences, raising concern over the mental distress and health issues of the defendant.

As mentioned by a media outlet, Doctor A is "reflecting and repenting" on his actions following the continued investigation regarding Yoo Ah In's drug case.

Following this, the next trial is scheduled for April 4, which will determine the final verdict on the issue.

To recall, the court began their first trial in December 2023, but Yoo Ah In denied most other allegations, including the illegal drug use, the accusations of tampering with evidence, and recommending others smoke marijuana.

At the time, the "Hellbound" star expressed his apology to the media and everyone "who has been disappointed and hurt" by his actions.

Meanwhile, as for Yoo Ah In's second trial, which lasted only 30 minutes, the actor refrained from giving brief interviews and responses to the allegations.

One of the shocking celebrity news stories in 2023 is Yoo Ah In's involvement with illegal drugs.

The news broke in February after TV Chosun's "News9" reported at that time that a top actor was being investigated by the police for alleged use of propofol.

Days later, Yoo Ah In made headlines after testing positive for marijuana, followed by other illegal substances like propofol, ketamine, cocaine, and more.

Due to this, the award-winning star dropped out of his upcoming projects, including "Hellbound" season 2. He is replaced by the equally talented Kim Sung Cheo.

As for his other on-screen activities, his new drama with Ahn Eun Jin, "Goodbye Earth," has been halted indefinitely.
