Yang So-ra, a graduate student who worked as a drama extra, died by suicide on August 28, 2009.

She was repeatedly raped and harassed by at least 12 men, including team leaders on filming sets.

The KBS investigation revealed that So-ra faced nearly 40 assaults in just three months, often while on location or in secluded areas.

So-ra's psychiatric records and handwritten notes showed a life filled with trauma. Despite reporting her attackers to the police with written statements and audio recordings, she faced neglect and further victimization.

Officers dismissed her complaints. One reportedly told her to "forget it and adapt to society." In one incident, she had to describe her assault in front of the perpetrator and draw the shape of his genitals.

After years of emotional pain and systemic failure, So-ra withdrew her complaint. Three years later, she took her life.

Just six days later, her sister So-jeong also died by suicide, burdened with guilt for bringing her sibling into the industry.

Their father later died from a brain hemorrhage, which was largely due to the emotional strain.

Their mother, still seeking justice, says, "Not everyone who is raped dies. What killed my daughters was the police."

No one has faced accountability to this day.
