The scandal unfolded after a whistleblower, known as 'A,' accused Song of school violence on JTBC's Chief of Staff. Song refuted the accusations at the time via her agency.

"Person A's claims about the school violence controversy are false," her legal representative said in July, and added that a criminal complaint had been lodged.

Even though she refused to accept, the situation blew up with person A stating intentions to seek monetary damages.

Mr. A declared that he will file for '10 billion won (approximately $7.3 million) for direct and indirect damages suffered through this incident,' referencing mental distress, international defamation, and what he called a violation of rights.

The whistleblower recently returned to Korea and appeared in public.

"(Song Ha-yoon) would harm my friends or those who helped with this case. If I don't come in, the investigation will not resume," Mr. A said during an interview on the YouTube channel Entertainment President Lee Jin-ho.

He elaborated, "I came out because I wanted to have a positive influence on the system so that perpetrators can no longer harm victims, whistleblowers, and witnesses."

Adding to the controversy, old classmates from Banpo High School also gave their view through a telephone interview broadcast on the same station.

"When Song Ha-yoon was acting, we (classmates) said, 'If school violence breaks out, it will be a big problem,' and it broke out this time," one of them recalled.

Another chimed in, "said, 'It would be good if she apologizes,' but I don't see any reflection."

Song, having withdrawn from entertainment activities after the allegations, now encounters additional challenges as legal actions and public sentiment heighten.

The controversy highlights how unsettled school violence cases still ride on the backs of celebrities in Korea, where reputation and responsibility are massively influential in the entertainment industry.
