Actor Park Jung-min offered candid insights into his role in the movie 'Face,' highlighting his strong sense of identification with his character, who, as was his own father, is visually impaired.

Speaking to News1 at a coffee shop in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, Park pondered how preparing to play Im Young-gyu made him reflect more seriously on his father.
"When I was offered the role and filmed the movie, I always did it without thinking much about it and didn't think about my father or anything, but I think I thought about it a little bit while preparing," Park said.
In 'Face,' released on September 11 and helmed by Yeon Sang-ho, Park doubled as Im Young-gyu, a blind man earning a living selling traditional stamps, and his son Im Dong-hwan, who searches for a long-hidden family secret after his mother's death.

Touching on some of the moments from his own life that shaped his performance, Park candidly discussed the understated ways in which he relates to his father.
"Of course, my mother is next to my father, but when my father is next to me, I also offer my elbow or talk about something.
So, since I'm used to those things while playing the role of a son, I ad-lib or when I do something next to my father, there are times when I show myself too much," he elucidated.
Park explained that the part provided him with an instant of self-discovery, particularly as a non-disabled actor acting out a character who is blind.
While preparing for the role of a father, I realized that I definitely couldn't fully understand my father, but since I'm a person who can see, I thought about that.
I prepared hard, but it felt strange that I couldn't show my father this side of me without making him feel ashamed," he explained.
"I'm past the sad stage, but acting gave me an opportunity to think about my father's life."
'Face' explores the bond between a father and son, revealing emotional and historical layers as the son uncovers the truth about his family. The film is currently playing in theaters.
