The recent episode of TV CHOSUN's weekend weekend drama "Confidence Queen" has generated tension as Park Min-young's character, Yoon Yi-rang, faces the prime antagonist in the show's complex network of fraud and lies.

Episode 9 was broadcast on October 4, after the series' highest-ranking eighth episode, and continues the plot of "Team Confidence Queen" — Yoon Yi-rang (Park Min-young), James (Park Hee-soon), and Myung Gu-ho (Joo Jong-hyuk) — as they pull off complex schemes against the corrupt CEO Ha Jung-ho (Park Myung-hoon)
In one of the show's most crucial scenes, Yoon Yi-rang and James try to lure Ha Jung-ho into a movie investment swindle.

Ha Jung-ho, CEO of a large seafood distribution firm, made his money smuggling cash into the country and smuggling banned fish onto dinner plates.
iMBC quoted how the team came up with the ruse of a fictitious cafe, "Soransoran Cafe," and presented themselves with new personas to lure him in, such as Ahn Yi-rang's role as madam of the cafe, Kim Hwa-ryeon.
A neutral note is placed before the quote to indicate tension in the show:
Yoon Yi-rang replied, "Well, if you're surprised by my sudden intrusion, how about I gently flirt with you? Then you'll find yourself signing the contract without even realizing it, right?"
Her calculated move directly turned the plan's momentum around, connecting the character and audience.
Then, the show featured a mix of drama and comedy when James and Myung Gu-ho manipulated Ha Jung-ho's passion for a secret script.
In spite of everything they could do, Chosun Biz reported that he initially declined to invest, generating dramatic tension that propelled the plot ahead.
The show also delved into Myung Gu-ho's backstory, who has ties to a 2002 kidnapping. Yoon Yi-rang and James recreated clues indicating the actual perpetrator was still loose.
iMBC pointed out the cliffhanger ending, mentioning Yoon Yi-rang's "goosebumps laugh" response to the figure in a hoodie saying, "Okay. Then play the game you want. What game do you want to play?" Her "goosebumps laugh" ended the show with increased tension.
"Confidence Queen" is still broadcast on TV CHOSUN and Coupang Play, and streaming is accessible worldwide through Amazon Prime Video in 240 countries and territories beyond Korea.
