Actress Kim Gyu Ri said that she would take legal action as her Instagram was flooded with violent and abusive messages after her post welcoming a court ruling which recognized the state's liability in the cultural blacklist under the Lee Myung-bak administration.

Koreaboo reported that on Nov. 9, the actress shared a lengthy message recounting the hardships she said she suffered as one of the individuals named in the blacklist, including surveillance, job cancellations and death threats.
Introducing one screenshot of the abuse, a social media comment read, "I will cut off your feet. Just wait."
Another message on the screenshot went: "Looks like everyone and their dog is having a solo exhibition lol."
Another comment threatened: "There is no peace for you. I'll make sure it stays that way."
One abusive post added: "Still stuffing your face with beef?"

A longer comment criticized her public stance: "Don't clumsily talk about politics with just a few half-baked ideas. Just focus on doing your own job well. It's your profession, after all. Nobody's calling you anymore, so are you trying to play the sympathy card now? Anyway, stop bragging about your ignorance, lol."
In the caption to her Instagram post, Kim claimed that she would take strict legal action against them and gave them one week to delete their comments. She also issued a warning to reporters not to spread such false narratives.
The post and screenshot immediately went viral on TheQoo and hundreds of comments from netizens poured out in support.
One user posted: "I'll definitely be cheering her on. Fighting" Another commenter wrote, "Fighting!"
Another supporter chimed in: ""She even gave those scumbags extra time out of consideration. Please don't show them any leniency. Fighting!" and "Why are they acting like that...? Isn't she an actor who's never been involved in any scandals?"
Kim's move to publicize the threats and signal legal action highlights broader concerns about online harassment and the risks faced by public figures who address political or historical issues.
Observers say the episode underscores tensions around political speech and harassment online in South Korea. Her lawyers declined to comment, and Instagram had not responded to a request for removal at the time of writing.
