Management agency Gold Medalist, which represents actor Kim Soo Hyun, is once again facing increased scrutiny for another abrupt change in leadership.

CEO Ahn Sung Soo has left the company, marking the second sudden executive departure in under a year for the agency.
According to a report from TenAsia, Ahn left his position roughly two months ago. He had previously appeared alongside Kim Soo Hyun at the actor's press conference on March 31 at the Stanford Hotel in Mapo-gu, Seoul.
The report added that he has since been replaced by an executive with previous experience at Hanwha, representing a significant change in internal leadership when the agency is already under pressure.
The shift in management comes at a time when Gold Medalist continues to deal with the unresolved issues surrounding Kim Soo Hyun and the bereaved family of the late actress Kim Sae Ron.
Ahn, who joined earlier this year, has stepped down after nine months in the company. Koreaboo noted increasing public interest over his departure timing with consideration of the ongoing disputes.
This is not the first leadership change that is linked to Kim Soo Hyun-related matters. Before the public controversy of the actor surfaced, another executive, referred to as A, from the company also stepped down late last year.
That executive handled the negotiations over compensation in relation to Kim Sae Ron's drunk driving incident. According to the source, "It is said that at the time, A understood Kim Sae Ron's difficult situation and, despite not recovering the loaned funds, tried to prevent gift tax from being imposed."
The situation escalated from the accusations that Kim Soo Hyun had been dating the late actress for six years, starting when she was a minor. He had previously denied having a relationship with her. He later claimed the two "dated after she became an adult."
Matters worsened when Kim Sae Ron was discovered dead in her house in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, on February 16, Kim Soo Hyun's birthday. The legal battle between the actor and the late actress's family has continued to increase public concern and media attention.
With the internal reshuffling at Gold Medalist coming amidst all the legal and public disputes, both TenAsia and Koreaboo report that the agency will continue to face challenges in stabilizing its leadership while navigating one of the most turbulent periods.
