Seohyun Reflects on 18 Years in the Spotlight: 'First Live Well as a Human Being, Then Act'

The talented actress-singer Seohyun achieved one of the biggest milestones in her career at the 2025 KBS Drama Awards, where she took home the Excellence Award for Actress in a Miniseries and the Best Couple Award. On Dec. 31, this award-giving ceremony honored the outstanding performances seen in the dramas of the year.

Seohyun earned the double win for her role in the KBS2 drama "I Stole the First Night" of the Namju, a project that also highlighted her evolving presence as a leading actress. Industry observers noted that the recognition reflected not only the drama's popularity but also her growing depth and consistency on screen.

While accepting the Excellence Award, Seohyun spoke about the significance of the project in her career. Reflecting on her journey, she said, "'I Stole the Nam-ju's First Night' was a huge turning point in my life, and I am so grateful for it."

She then acknowledged those she worked alongside, adding, "Thanks to the wonderful staff and fellow actors, I was able to overcome the difficult times, and it actually became an opportunity for me to grow as an actress."

According to OSEN, Seohyun also used her speech to share her personal philosophy after maintaining a scandal-free career for 18 years. Addressing the responsibility she feels as a public figure, she said, "I felt a great sense of responsibility when I heard, 'One drama gives me the strength to live my life.'"

Expanding on that thought, she added, "I believe that I must live my life well as a human being before becoming an actor to leave behind a great work that will be remembered by viewers for a long time."

She continued by expressing appreciation to those behind the scenes, offering thanks to directors Lee Woong-hee and Kang Soo-yeon, the production team and fellow cast members.

Turning to her personal supporters, she shared, "I want to be a proud daughter to my parents who always support me without wavering." She concluded with a message for the new year, saying, "I sincerely hope that everyone will become the main character of their own lives in the new year of 2026."

The Best Couple Award was shared with Ok Taecyeon, who portrayed Prince Gyeongseong Lee. Speaking about their on-screen dynamic, Seohyun recalled, "Before filming, we would bicker like real siblings, but once the camera rolled, we would think of each other as true lovers and immerse ourselves in the scene." She added, "We constantly discussed camera angles and how to express our emotions, and we meticulously coordinated as if we were choreographing a dance."

As reported by osen, Seohyun's performance as Cha Seon-saek drew praise for its wit and charm, further solidifying her reputation as a versatile actress. She is set to return to theaters in 2026 with the film Finding the King, as anticipation builds for her next chapter.

In other news, Seohyun reaffirmed her commitment to high personal standards and a scandal-free career during a rare variety show appearance nearly 18 years after her debut, according to KBZoom. On the June 16 episode of "Jjanhan Hyung Shin Dong-yeop," she said Girls' Generation defined her 20s and explained that she deliberately avoided dating scandals to protect the group's image.

Seohyun shared that her discipline stems from wanting to "live well as a person," adding that she still holds "sky-high" standards for a future partner.
