‘The Fatal Encounter’ Starring Hyun Bin Is Now Available

The historical film “The Fatal Encounter” was a hit over the summer. “The Fatal Encounter” stars Hyun Bin as King Jeongjo, a real-life Joseon monarch who achieved legendary status for his survival of numerous assassination attempts.

“The Fatal Encounter” examines one of the most epic assassination plots involving King Jeongjo.

“The Fatal Encounter” marked Hyun Bin's return to Korean entertainment, following his two-year period of mandatory military service.

The film opens with a bit of eye-candy as King Jeongjo trains for battle but segues into grittier subject matter as it progresses. Hyun Bin, who is best known for starring in romantic comedies like “My Name is Kim Sam Soon” and the Hong Sister’s fantasy “The Secret Garden,” brilliantly tackles the role of King Jeongjo.

“Broken” star Jung Jae Young delivers a heartfelt performance as Sang Chaek, an abused orphan who is brought into the household of the king as a disguised assassin.

Jo Jung Suk of “The Face Reader” is Sal Soo, an assassin whose past is tangled with Sang Chaek.

“The Fatal Encounter” features visually stunning sets and a plot which commands viewers to remain attentive until the last second of the film.
