Jo In Sung has no immediate plans for a drama comeback but you may shortly be able to catch the star on the big screen. It has been seven years since he was seen in the film "Frozen Flower with Joo Jin Mo and Song Ji Hyo. And now he is negotiating the details of a new film role.

His agency, 10K Company recently spoke with the Korean media publication X Sports News about his latest casting offer.

"Jo In Sung is currently positively considering the film "The King." However nothing is confirmed and we are fine tuning the details."

Jo In Sung's last two dramas "That Winter The Wind Blows" with Song Hy Kyo and "It's Okay, That's Love" with Gong Hyo Jin were both considered a critical and ratings success. So, it's interesting that he has chosen to follow two hit run dramas with a film role. Part of the attraction may be the film's director Han Jae Rim, a director with a stellar career.

Han Jae Rim's first film "Rules of Dating" won the Korean Film Council Screenwriting Contest" and he rose to fame with his second feature, the 2007 film "The Show Must Go On." Han recently directed the film "The Face Reader," which was a box office hit and the film won Best Film, Director and Actor awards at the Grand Bell Film Awards.

Han Jae Rim also produced the 2013 film "Very Ordinary Couple" and the 2015 film "Journalist."

Jo In Sung did not mean to wait seven years to star in a film. He planned to star in the futuristic sci-fi film "Kwon Bob," after he ended his mandatory military service in 2011. He turned down more than a few offers to wait for the film, but the scheduling and financing conflicts experienced by the production company continued for so long that Jo eventually took the leading role in the drama "That Winter The Wind Blows."

The lead role in "Kwon Bob was then offered to Yeo Jin Goo and Kim Soo Hyun, neither of whom still seem to be in the running.

Despite his new film's title, "The King" is not about a king. It's the story of a man who overcomes a difficult childhood to become a prosecutor. If he takes the role, Jo In Sung will play the prosecutor.
