On June 11, Fantasia International Film Festival announced its second round of movies. Fantasia International Film Festival (Fantasia 2015) will occur over the span of three weeks from July 14 through August 4, 2015. Set in Montreal, Fantasia has emerged as one of North America's premiere film events.
The second wave features a strong lineup of Asian programming, including four prominent Korean movies. The visual feast, "The Royal Tailor," will follow its appearance at the New York Asian Film Festival (NYAFF) for its Canadian premiere at Fantasia 2015. A complex and insightful period film, "The Royal Tailor" stars Park Shin Hye and Yoo Yeon Seok. Bolstered by a strong script and cast, "The Royal Tailor" led Park to receive Most Popular Actress honors at the 51st Baeksang Arts Awards.
The critically-acclaimed internet crime thriller, "Socialphobia," has also been added to the lineup at Fantasia 2015. "Socialphobia" provides commentary on internet harassment and the ways in which law enforcement deals with cyber crimes. Directed by Hong Seok Jae, the independent film stars Byun Yo Han.
Fantasia 2015 will also mark the Canadian premiere of the animated film, "The Crimson Whale." Park Hye Mi creates a beauty science fiction fantasy, which takes Korean animation to a higher level. The animated biological horror film, "On the White Planet," has also been added to the second wave lineup.
The complete lineup for the 19th Fantasia International Film Festival including screenings and special events will be released on July 7. Additional details for the festival can be found on the Fantasia website.
