On June 23, several reports claiming to provide confirmation of Yang Mi as the lead actress in "Bounty Hunters" surfaced on the Chinese netizen network, micro-Bo. While her casting in the project has yet to be confirmed by representatives for the production company, news began to circulate after a Weibo post was made by Mango Entertainment.
"Lee Min Ho and Wallace Chung are the actors in the blockbuster action-comedy film," said the June 22 Weibo post published by Mango Entertainment. "Yang Mi has been officially confirmed as the actress, in the film which has more than $200 million invested."
A report published in the entertainment section of Sina News outlines the speculation about Yang Mi and her potential role in the upcoming film. "According to microblogging news, Yang Mi has been confirmed as the heroine and it has been revealed that the film will begin shooting in August," said the writer for Sina News.
On June 14, Lee Min Ho and Wallace Chung were officially introduced as cast members in "Bounty Hunters," during a press conference which was held in conjunction with the Shanghai International Film Festival. During the event, Karena Ng was confirmed as the second female lead of the film. However, the Korean-Chinese co-production team did not confirm the leading lady of the project.
Angelababy, who is part of the ensemble cast of the Hollywood production 'Independence Day: Resurgence,' was previously speculated to join the project. The 26-year-old star has gained acclaim for her work within the lucrative Hong Kong film industry.
"Bounty Hunters" is a pan-Asian project which will be filmed in mainland China, Hong Kong, Thailand and South Korea.
