Five Fun Facts About Lee Jong Suk

Although Lee Jong Suk, who currently stars as Park Soo Ha in "I Hear Your Voice," does not look old enough to be a veteran actor, the personable 23-year-old actually has a half-dozen roles on his resume. Here are a few things you may not know about him.

1. He started out as a runway model, working with several top Korean designers. He was the youngest male model ever in the Seoul Collection program.

"I started being a model when I was in high school, so I began working early," said Lee Jong Suk.

2. Despite being sought after by designers for his model good looks, he thinks his face is rather ordinary.

"My looks are on the ordinary side," he said. "But I think this offers an advantage now that I am an actor. My face seems to change during a series and it's good if your face can change according to the changes in the character. With an ordinary face, it's like starting out with a blank sheet of drawing paper."

3. Lee Jong Suk is so naturally affectionate that it gets him in trouble. People occasionally accuse him of being a flirt when he is only trying to be friendly.

"It's just natural for me to touch people, so I like holding the hand of the person I'm talking to, whether it's a guy or a girl," he said. "If I'm with someone I'm comfortable with, I hug that person or touch them. Sometimes people misunderstand. I've come to realize there are people who don't like such skinship."

4. He is very critical of his acting ability. When he watched the daily footage for "High Kick 3," there was not even one moment when he felt he was doing a good job. If he did not like his own acting, he reasoned that other people would wonder why he even bothered trying.

"When I see actors in their 20s, such as Kim Soo Hyun, Shin Se Kyung and Yoo Ah In, I feel like I am so far from their skill level," said Lee Jong Suk. "We are around the same age and have similar experiences, but when I compare myself to them. I am not even in the same league."

His fans would disagree.

5. One of his inspirations to become an actor was Rain. He was inspired to act by watching Rain perform in "Full House" and also Kang Dong Wan in "Temptation of Wolf." So far, he has appeared in "Prosecutor Princess," "Secret Garden," "High Kick 3," "When I Was The Prettiest" and "School 2013."

Hopefully, after the praise he earns for his performance in "I Hear Your Voice," he will think more highly of his acting abilities.
