You may know Lee Sun Kyun as Gong Yoo's dog-walking cousin in "Coffee Prince" or the master chef who barked orders at Gong Hyo Jin in "Pasta," but there's a lot more to this interesting actor.

The actor, who is known for his wry sense of humor, appeared in a series of arthouse films and won best actor awards.

He was recently confirmed for the upcoming drama "Miss Korea" with Lee Yeon Hee. The drama about a village that helps an ordinary girl become a pageant contestant will reunite him with director Kwon Suk Jang and writer Seo Sook Hyang, who both worked on "Pasta."

Here are some more facts about him:

1.     He appeared in several musicals, including "Grease" and this year's "Love, Love, Love," but he debuted in 2002 as Brad in "The Rocky Horror Show."

2.     That's not why he is known as "The Voice." He has a distinctive deep voice that makes him a desirable male lead. Although he does not really consider himself a singer, he did contribute a song to the "Coffee Prince" OST.

3.     For years he played only supporting roles until his wife, actress Jeon Hye Jin, called him on it. After she heard that he turned down a leading role, she asked him why he only ever took roles that were easy for him. That prompted him to accept the role of the Chef in "Pasta."

4.     He married Jeon Hye Jin in 2009 after dating her for six years. At the wedding he sang his song from the "Coffee Prince" OST. The couple has two sons. Although having kids has changed his life an priorities, he has never been happier.

"This is the happiest time for me," he said. "After getting married I didn't necessarily set a new goal as an actor. Just like other dads, I want to work harder at what I'm doing and do it well."

5.     When he supervised the endless creation of pasta dishes in "Pasta," he gained weight. He had not really liked pasta before the drama but managed to gain more than 10 pounds between shooting the first and last episodes.

"My wife was staying at a postnatal care center right next to the restaurant where we shot the drama so I always gave her the pasta we practiced making," Lee said. "I think she enjoyed it because she doesn't know too much about pasta."

But he also ate his share.

"And it's not like I ate a lot. Gong Hyo Jin made fun of me saying I should lose some weight. That's when I told myself I should work out," he said.
