We see ourselves being attached to many Korean dramas, may it be action, comedy, melodrama, thriller, or romance. We stick to them like beer and skittles because we take inspiration from the characters, and we never fail to end the show without takeaways.

While lots of those who haven't visited the K-dramaland assume that viewers only watch K-dramas for the hunk male protagonists, this isn't completely true as there's a plethora of tough female leads out there who deserve the spotlight.

To celebrate International Women's Day, we present you some of the powerful female leads in our favorite K-dramas.

1. Ko Mun Yeong (Seo Ye Ji)

K-Drama: "It's Okay to Not Be Okay"

Seo Ye Ji left an impressive performance in the 2020 hit "It's Okay to Not Be Okay." Her strong character as Ko Mun Yeong left an impact to the viewers of the Netflix show.

From her cold, self-centered, and distrustful attitude at the beginning, Ko Mun Yeong began to wam up to the people around her and formed friendship in the process. From the wall that she has built through the years, she was able to conquer all her fears.

Bonus: Her fashion style also stood out, and you surely don't want to miss seeing her on her own runway wherever she is.

2. Hong Cha Young (Jeon Yeo Bin)

K-Drama: "Vincenzo"

The newest tenacious lady lawyer in town, armed with competitiveness and wit, Hong Cha Young (Jeon Yeo Bin) indeed is a force to be reckoned with. But despite her savage attitude in court and the cases she handles, Hong Cha Young is actually a tough cookie who will help those in need.

3. Im Ju Kyung (Moon Ga Young)

K-Drama: "True Beauty"

A talented actress that she is, Moon Ga Young can play any roles given to her. In her previous romantic-comedy drama "True Beauty," she played the character of Im Ju Kyung, a student who lacks confidence due to her insecurities. But instead of depriving herself, she gathers all her strength to face all the things that she is scared to do before: Start a new chapter of her life.

Im Ju Kyung left us an important lesson for all genders and ages. She used her past heartbreaks as a catalyst to empower herself. And while she was busy rebuilding herself, unknowingly, people around her found more strength and confidence in themselves because of her pure heart and genuine personality. Thus, true beauty comes from within.

4. Do Han Na (Kim Sejeong)

K-Drama: "The Uncanny Counter"

No one can save you but yourself.

True to her calling as a counter, Do Ha Na (Kim Sejeong) is always ready to face the enemy. From her flexible physique and amazing action stunts, Sejeong's character caught the interest of the viewers.

So Mun (Jo Byeong Gyu) can always count on Do Ha Na anytime of the day. Even though she experienced a life and death battle from the past and lost her family, Do Ha Na was able to stand up again and continue to give hope, happiness, and courage to others.

5. Jo Yi Seo (Kim Da Mi)

K-Drama: "Itaewon Class"

No one can mess with me.

Jo Yi Seo has a kind of aura that she always projects. Her strong personality can break barriers and can even break a leg of whoever messes with her.

Kim Da Mi met the audience with her powerful role as Jo Yi Seo in the drama "Itaewon Class." She may be a social media star, but one thing she is not afraid of is showing her true colors in front of other people. Plus, she is a cutie too!

Thanks to these fictitious women, we get to receive a sundry of lessons in different aspects of life, which we can also impart from others.
