The "True Beauty" star is in discussions to join actress Seo Hyun Jin in a new romance drama.
Hwang In Yeop to Play as the Male Protagonist in "Why Oh Soo Jae?"
Based on a media report on May 24, Hwang In Yeop has been chosen to play the lead role in the upcoming series "Why Oh Soo Jae?"
On the same day, an official representative from Hwang In Yeop's label KeyEast Entertainment released a statement.
According to the source, "Hwang In Yeop has received a drama offer to star in 'Why Oh Soo Jae?' and he is currently reviewing it."
Originally, "The Penthouse" star Kim Young Dae was the first one to have been offered the lead role. But due to his busy schedule, the production looked for another actor to fill in the role.
Romantic drama "Why Oh Soo Jae?" depicts the story of a woman who makes a mistake in choosing the right decision in life, which leads her to achieve the wrong kind of success. But her life will eventually change after falling in love with a young guy.
This will be new kind of story expected to make the viewers feel the pain and warmth of love.
Previously, "The Beauty Inside" actress Seo Hyun Jin confirmed her participation in the series. She will be portraying the character of Oh Soo Jae, a brilliant professor in a law school.

On the other hand, if the "18 Again'' star Hwang In Yeop accepts the drama role, he will be playing the character of Gong Chan, a bar owner and a freshman at SeoJoong University, taking up law.
Gong Chan and Oh Soo Jae's first encounter left a big impression on each other. The lady professor wrongly accused the young man and put him in jail for the crime he didn't even commit.
After some time, the two crossed paths again inside the law university where Oh Soo Jae is an adjunct professor and Gong Chan to start his journey as a freshman law student.
This will be the start of their chaotic yet heartwarming romance.
"Lie After Lie" writer Kim Ji Eun will pen the script for "Why Oh Soo Jae?"
Meanwhile, Park Soo Jin, who helmed "Dr. Romantic," ''Doctors," and "Death Song," is in charge of directing the series.
The new romance drama is scheduled to air in the second half of 2021.
Hwang In Yeop is currently filming his new Netflix series "The Sound of Magic," alongside actor Ji Chang Wook and Choi Sung Eun.
