Hwang Jung Min's first film of the year, "Hostage," has been confirmed for release on August 18 this year. The upcoming reality action-thriller film was written and directed by Pil Gam-sung.

Based on the 2015 Chinese film "Saving Mr. Wu," the film tells the story of a top film actor, played by actor Hwang Jung Min, who is kidnapped at dawn one day in the middle of Seoul, South Korea without any evidence and witnesses.

He soon realizes that it is not just some funny prank and plots a plan to escape when his kidnappers demand a huge amount of ransom money in 24 hours.

Hwang Jung Min is expected to evoke deep emotions from the general public with his acting performance in ambiguous situations. The film also aims for the audience to be interested in the film as well as empathize with the main character.

Hwang Jung Min New Concept as a "Hostage"

Hwang Jung Min's first film of the year is anticipated by the audiences. The movie was originally slated to be released in 2020 but was postponed due to the surge of the new coronavirus infection.

The actor starred in a number of box office hits, such as "Veteran," "The Duke," "Save Me From Evil," "Ode to My Father," "The Himalayas," "A Violent Prosecutor," and many more.

The general public is filled with anticipation and excitement to see the kind of acting performance Hwang Jung Min wiill to serve on the table for this reality action-thriller film.

Hostage controversial and unconventional teaser posters

The movie "Hostage" is deemed to be 2021's Movie of the Year just by judging its teaser poster.

The teaser, released with the news of its premiere date this August, swiftly amassed attention as Hwang Jung Min is tightly tied with a rope in the hideout of the hostage-takers. It elicits a dark and strong aura even though Hwang Jung Min's back is the only thing that can be seen.

"Hostage" main poster was in contrast to its launching poster, in which Hwang Jung Min was tied with a rope. The main poster was a photo of the main character depicting his determination to escape from his captors. It gained attention and raised the audience's curiosity whether he escapes safely by himself without any help.

The first trailer that was released through CGV's Official Facebook page evoked different emotions and reactions as it started with a time code that seemed to depict the whole story of the top film actor's kidnapping case which shook the whole South Korea.

South Korea is ready to watch Hwang Jung Min fight for his life and be free from his hostage-takers. Undoubtedly, his film will premiere with a bang just like his past films.

The heart-wrenching and agonizing escape of Hwang Jung Min from his hostage-takers is scheduled to open this summer, August 2021.
