Before the awarding ceremony, Korean heartthrob Lee Jong Suk is already gaining enthusiastic responses from people as he might be this year's Daesang recipient at MBC Drama Awards.

Will Lee Jong Suk Win His Second Daesang This 2022?

Though there were many dramas released by MBC this 2022, they did not have a massive hit like in 2021 with "The Red Sleeve." However, the average viewership ratings and popularity of series and actors have increased.

And with all the stars appeared and currently appearing in 2022 MBC dramas, Lee Jong Suk is reportedly the strongest candidate to take home the grand prize.

To recall, there were 11 series included in the MBC drama lineup, namely "Tomorrow," "Tracer," "Big Mouth," "Doctor Lawyer," "From Now On, Showtime," "The Golden Spoon," "May I Help You," "The Secret House," "Hunted," "The Witch's Game," and "The Forbidden Marriage."

Ahead of the annual ceremony, MBC revealed the potential candidates for the Daesang. So Ji Sub, Lee Jong Suk, Park Hae Jin, Kim Hee Sun, Im Siwan, Yook Sung Jae, Choi Sooyoung, and Lee Hye Ri who played the main characters in their respective dramas are competing for the grand prize.

Looking Back, So Ji Sub portrayed Han Yo Han, a doctor falsely accused of causing the death of a patient. Kim Hee Sun played as grim reaper in "Tomorrow."

Expectations are also high for Yook Sungjae and Im Siwan for their impeccable acting in "The Golden Spoon" and "Tracer."

But according to a media outlet, "Big Mouth" lead star Lee Jong Suk is most likely to receive the Daesang. His drama, which was his acting comeback after his military discharge, was the only MBC series to record double-digit ratings this year.

It premiered with a rating of 6.2 percent and finished its run with a rating of 13.7 percent. In addition, "Big Mouth" also became a hot topic and took first place in the most buzzworthy show rankings in the Friday and Saturday drama category.

Lee Jong Suk played a struggling lawyer named Park Chang Ho in the thriller drama, who gets involved in a murder case by accident and becomes the genius con artist Big Mouse.

The actor exhibited various sides of his character, from the incompetent and chaotic life of a lawyer suffering from debt to the way he falls into desperation after being falsely accused of a murder he didn't commit, and the way he protects his wife Mi Ho (YoonA).

On the other hand, if Lee Jong Suk wins the Daesang this year, it will be his second time winning the award. To recall, he first received the grand prize at the MBC Drama Awards in 2016 through the webtoon-based series "W: Two Worlds."
