Korean contents are dominating various streaming sites, which became its reason to earn recognition abroad. The newly released movie "Jung_E" amazingly gained a number of viewers as it topped the worldwide ranking.

'Jung_E' Tops Netflix's Global Charts in Movie Category

Netflix officially introduced its newest sci-fi movie, "Jung_E" to the world. Apart from the fact that it is a Korean film, its compelling story and magnificent production caught the public's attention. 

The movie premiered on January 20. Interestingly, just one day after its release, "Jung_E" already became a blockbuster not just in Korea-but also abroad. According to Flix Patrol, a global OTT tanking site, as of January 21, the Korean film immediately occupied the top spot on Netflix's worldwide ranking in the movie category beating other foreign shows such as "Dog Gone," "Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery," "The Pale Blue Eye," and more.

In particular, "Jung_E" came first in the film category in 32 countries including the United States.

What We Know About Kim Hyun Joo's 'Jung_E'

Based on the synopsis released, "Jung_E" follows the story of people trying to develop the best combat artificial intelligence (AI) by cloning the brain of the legendary mercenary Jung Yi. They plan it hoping to end the war in a shelter, where they migrated to after leaving earth, which was ruined due to climate change.

K-drama actress Kim Hyun Joo headlined the film by playing the role of Jung Yi, she led the allied forces to victory in multiple operations during the civil war. The late actress Kang Soo Yeon played the character of Seo Hyun, the head of a research institute that develops "Jung_E" through the process of brain cloning.

In addition, the new Korean movie is helmed by director Yeon Sang Ho, who is also behind the creatives of Netflix's original series "Hellbound." 

Koreans Share Sentiments About Netflix's Sci-Fi Movie 'Jung_E'

On the other hand, in an open forum online, other Koreans shared their comments about the movie. Some said that the graphic designs were great and the production investment was indeed good. 

A commenter praised the film's action scenes and the actors performances. However, he finds it boring.
