Despite his successful comeback through JTBC's "Reborn Rich," A-list star Song Joong Ki failed to be nominated for this year's Baeksang Arts Awards.

The highly-anticipated award ceremony, Baeksang Arts Awards, finally named the celebrities competing for various titles in each category of films and dramas.

On April 7, the committee handling the 59th Baeksang Arts Awards revealed the nominees on its official website and SNS account. While others are excited to see the new and familiar faces who are candidates for this year's competition, some were not happy as there are brilliant talents who did not make the cut, causing the ceremony to receive mixed reactions.

Song Joong Ki's Ki Ailes Express Dismay At Actor Being 'Snubbed' By 59th Baeksang Arts Awards

Concerning this matter, Song Joong Ki's fans (Ki Ailes) expressed their sentiments, claiming that it is a bit disappointing that the actor's efforts were not recognized.

However, people argue that "Reborn Rich" has two main protagonists, and veteran actor Lee Sung Min, who is the other lead actor, did an excellent job, which made his nomination understandable.

Some people commented, "Lee Sung Min's character in 'Reborn Rich' was more complicated than Song Joong Ki, so the nominations for me are understandable." 'Reborn Rich' was really a hit, and it is really surprising that Song Joong Ki is not on the list of candidates."

The last time Song Joong Ki got nominated in the Best Actor category was in 2021 for his performance in the dark-comedy series "Vincenzo." 

Song Joong Ki Booked & Busy This 2023

With his back-to-back projects to be released soon, Song Joong Ki is busy working in and outside South Korea.

Last February, the "Descendants of the Sun" actor flew to Hungary to start filming his new movie "My Name is Loh Kiwan," which is expected to premiere on Netflix in 2024.

Apart from it, Song Joong Ki has two more upcoming movies set for release this 2023. He will headline "Bogota: City of the Lost," alongside Lee Hee Joon and Kwon Hae Hyo.

He will make an immediate silver screen comeback through the mystery-crime movie "Hwaran."
