Son Seok Koo Shows Support for Ma Dong Seok’s ‘The Roundup: No Way Out’

Son Seok Koo took to social media to show his support for the newly released movie "The Roundup: No Way Out," starring Ma Dong Seok, Lee Joon Hyuk, and more.

As the action crime movie made its premiere on March 31, the versatile star reached out to millions of his Instagram followers to watch the third sequel.

On June 6, Son Seok Koo posted a selfie, promoting "The Roundup: No Way Out."

In a post, he wore a familiar jacket that was used by Ma Dong Seok in the second sequel, "The Roundup," also known as "The Outlaws 2," which was released in 2022. 

Along with a post, he wrote "Ma Suk Do," referring to the character of the legendary detective, played by Ma Dong Seok.

In a second Instagram story, Son Seok Koo wrote "The Roundup: No Way Up" as his way to promote the movie. 

To recall, he played the villain Gang Hae Sang, a terrifying killer who victimized his fellow Koreans. 

In the movie, he crosses paths with the "monster detective" named Ma Suk Do, whose responsibility is to hunt down criminals. 

At the time of "The Roundup's" release, the film, which was released in 132 countries, had massive box office success.

In addition, the 2022 sequel achieved record breaking success after it surpassed the achievement of various Korean and global movies like "Parasite," "Avengers: Age of Ultron," and "Along with the Gods: The Last 49 Days" after "The Roundup" garnered over 12 million viewers since its theatrical release.

Due to this, Ma Dong Seok, who is also the producer of the movie, expressed his deep gratitude to the viewers.

Moreover, he also revealed that the action-crime movie will return with not just one but two sequels. 

'The Roundup: No Way Out' Scores 5 Million Viewers in its First Week

As mentioned by a media outlet, "The Roundup: No Way Out" continues the success of the two first installments as the third sequel lands with an impressive 5 million moviegoers. 

It was after the Korean Film Council's Korea Box-Office Information System (KOBIS), cited that the action crime movie surpassed 1 million by the second day and 5 million by the sixth day, making it the first Korean film of 2023 to reach 5 million viewers. 

To commemorate the success, "The Roundup: No Way Out" cast members commemorated the achievement by posting  handwritten messages for viewers. 

It includes lead stars Ma Dong Seok, Lee Joon Hyuk, and Japanese actor Munetaka Aoki, along with Kim Min Jae, Go Kyu Pil, Jeon Seok Ho, and Ahn Se Ho, and of course, director Lee Sang Yong.
