Kim Min Jae Says He is Not Enlisting This July – Here’s Why
As "Dr. Romantic 3" wrapped up with a successful finale, Kim Min Jae talked about his plans, especially with his enlistment.
In an interview with local media outlets, the actor dished on his expectations about the possibility of the medical series returning with season 4 and the schedule of his military training.
Before "Dr. Romantic 3" aired its pilot episode, lead star Han Suk Kyu surprised the crowd after he revealed Kim Min Jae's enlistment plans.It was after the veteran actor accidentally spilled details regarding his upcoming training.
"When I met Kim Min Jae during Season 1, there was a point where I told him, 'Hurry up, and go to the military,' but he is going to the military in July," he said, adding, "Was that something that shouldn't have been said?"
As for Kim Min Jae, he seemed flustered about his co-star's unexpected revelation.
Kim Min Jae Will Skip July's Enlistment
Now that the medical series has officially ended, the actor shared that he is skipping enlistment this July since the schedule is yet to be finalized.
When asked about his plans for it, Kim Min Jae said he plans to go to the military "within the year."
The "Dr. Romantic 3" star is among the actors who are predicted to have their enlistments in 2023.
On the other hand, fellow stars like Nam Joo Hyuk officially enlisted on March 20 and will be discharged by September 2024, while Lee Do Hyun was rumored to join the military this year; however, his agency, Yuehua Entertainment, said that "nothing has been decided" as of the moment.

While Kim Min Jae's enlistment schedule is out in public, the actor expressed his desire to join the military band as a part of his mandatory service. It was after he told the outlet that being in the band was somehow "related to his career."
"I'd be so happy if I could carry out my military service while doing music," he said.
Will 'Dr. Romantic 3' Be Kim Min Jae's Last K-drama Before Enlistment?
For three seasons, Kim Min Jae reprised his role as the righteous nurse Park Eun Tak, one of the essential characters in the medical K-drama. However, it was only in season 2 that he had a loveline with then newcomer So Ju Yeon.
Interestingly, viewers get to see their love story blossom in season 3.
However, it appears like the SBS medical series will be his last K-drama project before enlistment, given that season 4 is yet to be confirmed as of this writing.
Interestingly, regarding "Dr. Romantic" season 4, Kim Min Jae said that he wants to join the upcoming season if given a chance.
"'Dr. Romantic' is so meaningful to me. I've always wanted to do it. All the actors feel the same in wanting to do it," he said.
To recall, the last episode of the third season hints at a possible sequel after the drama introduced the return of Dr. Yoon Seo Jung, played by Seo Hyun Jin.
