‘Squid Game’ Season 2 Questioned for Casting Male Top Stars While Actresses Are Mostly Rookies
Netflix is continuing to tease fans with a cast lineup and update for the highly anticipated "Squid Game" season 2.
However, after dropping the names of actors who were confirmed to join the upcoming sequel, the streaming giant faced mixed reactions regarding the casting choices.
Due to this, viewers expressed their opinion online, with some pointing out that "Squid Game" season 2 only cast male top stars, leaving the female characters with rookie actresses.
Confirmed Cast of 'Squid Game' Season 2
As mentioned in a news portal, following the update regarding the rumored cast, the female actors are relatively unknown or up-and-coming actresses.
On the other hand, others see it as a great opportunity given that, with the global fame of "Squid Game," they might be the next Jung Ho Yeon or Lee Yoo Mi, whose popularity skyrocketed thanks to the Netflix series.
To recall, director Hwang Dong Hyuk previously confirmed that Lee Jung Jae and Lee Byung Hun would be part of "Squid Game" season 2.
It was after Netflix confirmed that the dystopian series would return with a sequel.
Lee Jung Jae will continue to play Seong Gi Hoon, the recent winner and survivor of the death-defying game, while Lee Byung Hun plays the mysterious frontman.
In addition, the "Squid Game" creator also hints that the second installment will focus on the frontman and why he chose to work with the organization after winning the game.
A year later, Netflix introduced more stars to the sequel.

Wi Ha Joon, who played police officer Hwang Jun Ho, and the frontman's younger brother will appear in the series.
On the other hand, Gong Yoo will return as a guest, playing the role of a salesman.
As for the new characters, Im Siwan and Kang Ha Neul join as the lead stars, while Yang Dong Geun and "The Glory" actor Park Sung Hoon will appear as supporting characters.
Meet the Rumored Female Cast of 'Squid Game' Season 2
Meanwhile, the female cast includes Park Gyu Young, who is rumored to play one of the main characters.
However, her agency, Saram Entertainment, clarified the news, saying, "It is information we cannot confirm. We ask for your understanding."
At the same time, former IZ*ONE member Jo Yu Ri was also rumored to appear in the series. However, like Park Gyu Young's label, her agency, WAKEONE Entertainment, expressed the same stance, saying that her casting has not been confirmed.
Meanwhile, media outlets continue to drop the names of rumored actresses who will reportedly join the series.
Adding to the list of "Next Sohee" star Kim Si Eun and Won Ji An were selected to play new characters, but Netflix has yet to confirm the casting of these four actresses.
