Jo In Sung expressed his affection for his "Smugglers" co-stars Kim Hye Soo and Yum Jung Ah. During his interview with news outlets, the award-winning star spoke about his fondness for his fellow actors, especially to his seniors.

Jo In Sung on Working With Kim Hye Soo, Yum Jung Ah in 'Smugglers'

One of the highly anticipated movies this year, "Smugglers," depicts the story of female divers who got involved in a high-stakes smuggling scheme.

Set in the 1970s, the upcoming movie not only boasts a colorful and energetic feel but also stars high-caliber actors. 

In addition, "Smugglers" is also the work of award-winning director Ryu Seung Wan of "Escape from Mogadishu," "The Battleship Island," "Veteran," and "The Berlin File."

Despite being a top star himself, Jo In Sung shared high praise for Kim Hye Soo and Yum Jung Ah.

Expressing how honored and thrilled he is to be working with his female co-stars, he asked himself:

"If I hadn't done 'Smugglers,' I wonder how I would have known Kim Hye Soo and Yum Jung Ah."

With this, Jo In Sung said that the upcoming movie is a project that has "great meaning" to him. Because of the movie, he was able to meet his amazing seniors.

"It's good to have a senior I can ask when I don't know. I don't want to lose the love of seniors Kim Hye Soo and Yum Jung Ah."

The upcoming movie is the first project of Jo In Sung and the "Juvenile Justice" star. The same goes for the actor and Yum Jung Ah.

Besides the trio, "Smugglers" cast also includes Park Jung Min, Go Min Si, and Kim Jong Soo as lead stars.

Jo In Sung Shares His Filming Experience During the Pandemic

"Smugglers" is among the movies that did their production in the middle of the global pandemic. At the height of their shoot, Jo In Sung said that they followed strict protocols during the production.

The actor also revealed that there were times when the set was almost empty because they had to restrict the number of people who would be going on the set.

In a separate report, the director expressed his high hopes for the viewers' response to the movie.

"I put a lot of genuine thought and sincerity into making this film."

Moreover, he also spoke about the effects of the pandemic on the film industry.

"I think that if filmmakers look more closely at what the audience wants and find a path to development, we can find a solution."

Thankfully, despite the setback, the team pulled off every shot flawlessly and is set to hit the big screen this year.

"Smugglers" will officially premiere on July 26, 2023.
