‘Yumi’s Cells’ Staff Defends Ahn Bo Hyun After Being Criticized for 'Rude' Behavior
After confirming his relationship with BLACKPINK's Jisoo, Ahn Bo Hyun was accused of being rude to the staff of his previous K-drama, "Yumi's Cells."
In 2021, the 35-year-old actor headlined the webtoon-based K-drama together with Kim Go Eun. Playing the role of game developer Goo Woong, the story depicted Ahn Bo Hyun's character as an emotionally distant person.
Viewers were delighted to see the chemistry between Ahn Bo Hyun and Kim Go Eun as the story progressed. In addition, he reprised his role in season 2, along with Park Jin Young as Yumi's current boyfriend.

Two years after the first season ended, a behind-the-scenes video during the shoot circulated online.

A clip taken during the behind-the-scenes shoot of the 2021 drama "Yumi's Cells" gained the attention of the public after Ahn Bo Hyun was seen rehearsing his lines.
However, what netizens noticed was that the actor was not holding his own script. Instead, a staff member from the production was doing it for him as he memorized his lines.
As for the woman, she was holding it with one hand and checking her phone with the other.
Unfortunately, this scene sparked discomfort from fans, who were surprised to see Ahn Bo Hyun's attitude behind the camera. He was criticized for "crossing the line" and for not being able to hold his script by himself."
Netizens also pointed out that "even top stars don't do" this kind of treatment to staff members.
Due to the backlash, a staff member from "Yumi's Cells" defended Ahn Bo Hyun from malicious comments.
'Yumi's Cells' Staff Says These Kinds of Situations 'Can Occur During Filming'
As mentioned by a media outlet, the staff explained the reason behind the video.
The person said that these kinds of situations "can occur during the filming," especially when they are already very close to each other as a team.
Moreover, the person explained that "staff can directly hold the script for their actor like that," noting that the relationship between actors and crew was "like brother and sister helping each other" and "not a relationship between people with higher and lower statuses."
Lastly, the staff pointed out that the video alone "cannot conclude" that the actor has a "bad personality," adding that it "is unreasonable to judge Ahn Bo Hyun solely based on that moment and ignore other factors," pertaining to the environment and working relationship with the production crew.
In addition, it was learned that the woman beside Ahn Bo Hyun was his hairstylist and was helping him memorize his script.
