Shin Hye Sun spoke about her nickname back in high school and why she was often called Jun Ji Hyun.

The South Korean superstar, who headlined the hit movie "My Sassy Girl" and K-drama "Legend of the Blue Sea," is known for her exquisite beauty and, of course, her undeniable talent.

With this, a few younger-generation actresses had been dubbed as the next Ju Ji Hyun by fans and media.

Interestingly, Shin Hye Sun revealed that she was fondly called by the actress' name in her high school years.

Shin Hye Sun 'Embarrassed' With Nickname Jun Ji Hyun

During her guest appearance on SBS Power FM's "Park Ha Sun's Cine Town" radio show to promote her new movie "Target," the actress mentioned an interesting story about her nickname.

Host Park Ha Sun spoke about her appearance in "SNL," where he spoke about the story of being called Jun Ji Hyun in high school.

According to the actress, students at the time saw a resemblance between the K-drama queen and her.

"I've never personally talked about Jeon Ji Hyun sunbaenim," she said, as obtained by a media outlet, adding, "People said that we looked alike because of our hairstyle. That seemed to be how the nickname came up."

This is the reason she felt "so embarrassed" whenever she heard it, especially when people back then referred to her as the "Jun Ji Hyun of the National High School of Traditional Arts."

Although she is not as legendary yet as the iconic actress, Shin Hye Sun has made a name for herself and is known for her versatility regardless of genre.

The South Korean beauty starred in the recently-concluded K-drama "See You in My 19th Life" with Ahn Bo Hyun.

Taking on the role of Ban Ji Eum, she transforms into someone who has been repeatedly reincarnated for thousands of years. Interestingly, she can remember who she was in her past lives.

Following her K-drama comeback, Shin Hye Sun also headlines the new movie "Target."

Shin Hye Sun Stars in 'Target'

From rom-com fantasy K-drama, the actress stars in a thriller-mystery movie with Kim Sung Kyun, as well as Kang Tae Oh and Geum Sae Rok.

Shin Hye Sun plays the character of Soo Hyun, a person who becomes a target of crime after having a mysterious online purchase and being scammed for it.

Her new movie, which is scheduled to officially hit theaters today, August 30, ranked first in ticket reservations two days after the premiere.

"Target" not only topped the rankings but also outshined the record set by "Concrete Utopia" on advance screening. This only shows that local movies are getting attention as compared to Hollywood films like "Oppenheimer."
