Park Jinyoung Wins Best New Actor for Role in 'A Christmas Carol'

Park Jinyoung bagged the Best New Actor for his notable performance in the movie "A Christmas Carol" at the 43rd Korean Association of Film Critics Awards. The ceremony was hosted by the Korean Association of Film Critics on September 21.

"A Christmas Carol" directed by Kim Sung Woo is an action-thriller movie that follows the story of a twin brother who goes to a juvenile detention center on his own to get revenge for his twin brother's death.

The lead star perfectly immersed himself in the roles of twins Il Woo and Wol Woo, who were involved in a tragic event. Park Jinyoung showcased his outstanding acting skills and received rave reviews from critics.

This is not the first time Park Jinyoung got recognized for his acting abilities this 2023. In fact, he won the Best New Actor-Film and Most Popular Actor at the 59th Baeksang Arts Awards in April, before he enlisted in the army.

Park Jinyoung Receives Recognition in Military Uniform

Despite fulfilling his duties inside the army, Park Jinyoung showed up through a video message and received recognition while wearing his military uniform.

In his acceptance speech, the idol-actor said:

"It is meaningful to receive such an honorable award as a soldier. 'A Christmas Carol' is like a beginning for me. I want to show that I will work harder and make more efforts. I would like to thank Director Kim Sung Woo as well as the directors, staff, seniors, and colleagues I worked with on this project. I will complete my military service and come back healthy."

The GOT7 member appeared in "Dream High 2," "He is Psychometric," "This is My Love," "The Devil Judge," and "Yumi's Cells 1 & 2." Jinyoung also exhibited his improved acting skills in his previous films "Yaksha: Ruthless Operations" and "A Stray Goat."

Park Jinyoung is expected to finish his military duties next year and will be discharged in the latter half of 2024.

Many are already looking forward to what kind of work he will pursue once he returns to the acting spotlight.
